Bungie will not restore lost or deleted items or characters for any reason.
Characters can only be manually removed so if you didn't do it someone else did.

My wife and I recently returned after a couple years away. She only had 1 character, and its gone too. We didn't manually delete either.

Bungie ran a investigation over these "random deleted characters" and found no evidence of any glitches that would cause it. This resulted in another warning about account security in a TWaB newsletter 2 weeks ago. To get a character deleted takes a person using your account to request it to be deleted.

Honestly, with whats been happening the past few week, it make this hard to believe. I know your right, but with seals all just up an vanishing, as well as some ppls accounts being rolled back with today update, kinda hard to belive characters cant get deleted at random.
