You don’t understand. They laugh around the conference room table at the fact that no matter how much they troll the players, people willingly jump on the hamster wheel. They have little competitions to see who can troll the players the best. That’s Bungie’s version of team building for their employees. They give out TVs and stuff at their year end celebration to the employees who got away with implementing things that were the opposite of what players were asking for, and those that caused an uproar on the forum get extra bonuses like rainbow speedos or fuchsia crocs.
