I don't think this is accurate. Back in the old days, Bungie.net was heavily moderated. No political or religious discussion was allowed. People spent plenty of time here in spite of that. The real reason this place became a shell of it's former self is that Bungie kicked off all of the people that did not play the original Destiny. Then, they kicked off everyone that didn't play the opening of Destiny 2. Bungie itself is much more corporate since their Activision partnership, so maybe it would have died anyway. Nothing will last forever, no matter how much you love it.
