RoN 2nd Encounter Launch Mechanic needs to be fixed

On a Warlock, the launch mechanic is very inconsistent. Sometimes, I got launched too fast, too slow. Sometimes it launch me way too high or just straight down. Bungie, please fix this. It is extremely frustrating especially as a Warlock main.

  • Yeah there's basically 1 in 10 shot that a Warlock is gonna get a bad launch. It happens on other characters as well but it's normally easier for them to recover.

  • If you use heat rises, eager, and Icarus dash, you can make it across the gap very easily. Honestly do that instead of using the catapults

  • On controller we found out, that you should not put in any direction with your left stick when launching, if you press forward on left stick for some reason it launches you downward

  • When we do this raid im usually running light the whole time and on warlock I use strand and my eager edge sword just for this one encounter incase it tries to shoot me down words lol. I've found that most of the time really quickly hitting a burst glide just barely after your initial launch it make it much better but there is a small chance if you time it wrong you'll send yourself into the roof

  • There’s nothing that can be done now. They implemented an intrinsically broken mechanic into the game, that relies on fps and game physics. We know their game physics at a foundational level is a complete disaster, and anything relying on fps is doomed to fail. There’s nothing they would be able to do other than remove these launchers

  • I've been the runner on walrock twice now and it's definitely jank. While we pray for a fix, using Icarus dash makes things more consistent. Do a little hop right after shooting the crux, then Icarus dash when you get pushed and you fly over like a rocket, little to no risk of floating downwards.

    • The way my teams worked it out is if you continue walking backwards as you shoot the Crystal it slows you done and you make it like 99% of the time

      • Had the same issue. Hunters and Titans have basically no issue crossing that gap. It's a 50/50 on a Warlock.

        • Back up all the way to the pad, shoot the crystal and as soon as you get lunched press your jump button. You'll start to glide and make it everytime. Took a couple runs but I haven't had an issue running after learning that. Strand grapple is also worth running, picks up your pace a little and can save you if you miss time the jump or a bad launch pad.

        • It will never be fixed unless destiny 2 gets a new engine, which also is never happening. We have to suffer from sonic 06 physics for the rest of this games life

        • I had to have my butt pressed up against the flipper thing as much as possible before I made my crossovers. Definitely needs some attention.
