Commendations are Sandbagging Solo Players
I play mostly solo. I'm the only player in my clan that hasn't left the game. I don't have a regular fireteam and I dislike LFG. Grouping up with random people usually means dealing with toxic players. I've literally had a guy tell me I should quit the game because he was pissed off about me dying in Duality.
If I can do something solo then that's how I play. But now my "guardian ranks" progress is tied to commendations which I only get when playing matchmade content.
If they're going to tie progress in G-ranks to commendations then there should be one for players that run solo content. Make it a category unto it's own. Call it "Lone Wolf" or some -blam!-. One commendation for every solo completed activity. It wouldn't be broken or exploitable, and actually be slower in progress than every source of commendations. It would provide feedback to other players about someone's playstyle (which is what I thought these were supposed to be for in the first place).
I've been playing lightfall consistently since launch. I've got a commendations score of about 220. At this rate it's gonna be another month before I hit rank 7 and I've finished every other task. Even solo flawlessed a lost sector before they moved it to rank 8. I've got more than a half a million career kills. I just want to see some progress.

3 RepliesJust don't care about Guardian Ranks, dude. Your entire issue is predicated on Bungie successfully making you care about something that didn't exist a month ago and has no actual gameplay effect. Bungie got you guys with Triumphs and Seals and they got you again. Just pay it no mind.

I’m sorry but contrary to popular belief this game isn’t designed for solo players even though bungie wants it to be. And it’s really not that hard to use lfg and if you use the excuse of other people actin a fool then be the host so you choose who stays.

Guardian Ranks aren't designed for solo-only, they're designed to show people that you've done... well, everything. That includes the multiplayer aspects of the game. That's why Rank 9 needed Master Nightfalls. That's why 10 and 11 are gonna need Master Raid/Dungeons and Grandmaster NFs. It ain't the commendation score that's gonna hold people back. If you want to get to 11 before the end of a season then you have to do some endgame. I get the LFG frustration, really I do. I'm a Conqueror off of LFG. 90% of my Dungeons, Nightfalls, and Raids are LFG. It's a mixed bag. Had someone tell me they were gonna rip my daughter's face off and wear it like a mask... because we wiped in a GM farm. Had a group that doubted my choice to stay Broodweaver on Root of Nightmares until they saw 4M damage on Nezarec and more total kills then the next 3 people combined. You learn to ignore the dumb shyt, report them, and press on for the sake of getting the clear.

It's why I'm online and not playing. I hate Crucible and only play Gambit and Nightfall for the pinnacle gear. Bungle appears determined to alienate solo players. I pay the same money as team players, but this time Bungle has made it clear that I am not welcome. I am level 7 and have around 5500 hours in the game, but I no longer have any desire to play.

I’ve been playing solo since CoO, to enjoy this game solo you need to come to terms with the fact that you’re not gonna get everything done in this game or get all the rewards. I agree we should have a rank system for us as well, they know we exist, we even got our own mod last season lol. If your having trouble with commendations play the seasonal activity or strikes. That way you’re almost guaranteed to get two every time. You also get points for giving them. That being said don’t get too excited… our guardians ranks journey as a solo player stops at rank 7. Unfortunately they have raids for 8. I wish they would have made dungeons for 8 and raids for 9 but hey maybe next season :)

12 RepliesHate to tell ya this but....game is near death. All of this bs, from woke ranks to crucible dropping modes when others are active are because NO ONE is playing this game anymore. Most log in the 1st 4 to 6 weeks if a season the bail but this bs they sold everyone has that same mass expdux plus some leaving FIRST WEEK. Its why they opened all strand early and why they kill game modes as there arent eniugh players anymore. The woke ranks was to force solos into content to lower matching times and get thier pretty bs charts to for thier lie. Ranks are a woke parade..why??? No negatives. Cant say nothing bad to anyone even when they are trash which is why its all just a useless time sink and one i would say avoid. Why do it..? For a number beside your name until end of season because oh yeah guess what?? It resets so you cant to do it all over again just so new players done feel left out and get their fake participation trophy. The devs here were the people who couldnt ever make the team, last picked in dodgeball, never got the hot girlfriend and but instead git the leftovers and were picked on and most likely were all the jocks fan club ....now they want thier perfect little world...to bad the world doesnt work that way.

They reset every season so why bother? They are a good way to instantly see if a guardian is up for the challenge, but are meant to just finish themselves.

3 RepliesTo those who apparently don't know, Destiny 2 has a massive massive single player playerbase. Why is that? Clans are broken, the community is toxic as hell and most of you paid $100 for a subclass tutorial. How much of the playerbase finished the raid? This game is supposed to be multiplayer. This game is supposed to be fun. Things are not always what they are supposed to be. Try asking questions like, what happened?

I give mastery commendations to the worst people at the end of a pvp match It's truly meaningless, I wouldn't worry about this pathetic system.

I hate to break it to you but if you’re a solo player and you don’t play endgame content then commendations are the least of your worries. Have you beat every single raid and every single dungeon? Can you solo the latest dungeon in one sitting? Do you have seven different seals including getting/guilding Conquerer? At the end of the day the cold hard truth is that new players, casual players, and solo players will only progress so far within the Guardian Ranks. Commendations aren’t even an issue when you actually play all of the content that the game has to offer and that are required to progress in the Guardian Ranks.

It’s a multiplayer game obviously you won’t be able to go everything solo. Just get some mates and play with them it’s easy

3 RepliesI don't really understand what you're saying. What stops you, as a solo player, from doing Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, Dares of Eternity, weekly Campaign missions etc? It would be astonishing if you had [i]any[/i] interactions with other players in those activities, never mind toxic ones. Raids and Dungeons are the most effective way to gain Commendations, but are by no meals the only way. As for the ranks themselves, it is common sense that the higher ranks are only for players who do everything in the game. If you're placing limitations on yourself that prevent you from going up a rank, that's on you.

Biggest issue is that the achievement to unlock the rest of the loadout slots is now in guardian rank 8, and therefore locked behind the 460 commendation score chievement for level 7
