Bungie have been full circles changing from Cbmm to skill based -fireteam based, they keep testing the waters trying to get it to work but it should be obvious by now, get it right and stop fkn with it.

According to Bungie, there are only this DLC and one more to finish with Destiny's 2 storyline, after that is unclear if they will continue with this or just jump to another project, so we could say there's probably only two years left for this game, and at this point it's outrageous that they keep testing things instead of just use the experience they supposedly have after years of the game and launch something that really works.
