Please don't force difficulty on me, let me opt in
Tldr: I'm a player who wants to feel powerful. I want the baseline content to be more like pre-lightfall. I want the option to do higher-difficulty content on my terms. This isn't as fun as it used to be.
Long read:
I'm a casual player, like the majority of players. I do patrols, vanguard playlists, battlegrounds, and lost sectors for the most part. Once I gear up a bit each season, I might grind legend lost sectors and heroic nightfalls--maybe.
I'm not having fun in patrols on Neomuna. I am not having fun in the battlegrounds playlist. I don't feel powerful; I feel slightly lucky I survived. It's a horrific slog with mediocre rewards. Defiant armor focusing is also giving very low-stat rolls. I haven't even attempted a normal strike in the playlist this season. I'm assuming it's going to be awful.
I'm a casual player. I don't have a ton of friends who play this game. I'm here to enjoy space magic and the story you have crafted.
I enjoyed the game more when it was clearer (at least to me) that everything sub-heroic/legendary was low-difficulty. It made the idea of dipping into the game and doing some activities a fun and relaxing diversion from normal life.
It now feels like an effort I don't want to do. I want to choose when I do higher difficulty content. I don't want people who play this game on YouTube for their job to decide for me.
I enjoy this game so much that I'm trying to fight through it because I paid for it, but I don't really want to.
[b]I won't be paying for the Final Shape if the difficulty of sub-heroic/sub-legendary content isn't restored to something approximating pre-lightfall balance. Full stop. Bottom line. That's on period, sis.[/b]

12 RepliesRemember back in the day running Halo on legendary or veteran difficulty on the old CODs? You had to be very strategic to complete almost every mission in those games! … And for what? Just to get an achievement/ trophy? So many of us still did it though. This content is no where near as difficult and you CAN be rewarded well for completing it. Who are these people complaining because I know its not the people that use to play those games. I think people are still so use to the majority of Destiny content being a walk in the park that now that they rose the difficulty, they can’t fathom it!

When Bungie said that Destiny 2 was getting more difficult, they raised the difficulty floor instead of the ceiling -

2 RepliesMeh, imho these changes didn't make the game "harder" or "more challenging", just more time wasting. Like, enemies being more bullet spongy and we needing to get cover more often just makes certain Activities longer and more annoying, not harder and more rewarding in terms of "challenge". I don't know. I don't feel this is a good way to "bring the challenge back". Just my opinion, tho.

1 ReplyTo put the difficulty in a new light. I have ran GM's that were not such a chore as doing a basic hero strike. Its a throw back this season for sure. None of my clan even goes to Neptune anymore to much of a grind and bungie making primary weapons shoot like BB gun's is laughable . Its the season of 10,000 deaths from ships that fly around shooting you with there tracking bombs ,turrets that melt you in a second, balls falling out of the sky crushing you. You have to ask yourself ,is any of this difficult? not at all, nope ,its nothing more then a annoying chore and a time grind . What really makes a guy ask the question is it something you enjoy doing now after they nerfed all players and gave ads 4x the armor or will bungie correct any of this. I don't think they have a solution . If they did this wouldn't of been released in the first place. But unloading 2 or 3 clips just for one ad to go down is completely boring not hard.

3 RepliesI agree with you. It quickly became a slog in the campaign. I'm actively avoiding neomuna now, after completing the campaign, as its like cleaning out a cat litter box. A joyless chore. Something that has to be done as you paid for it. Reddit just proved that red bar enemies have more health than a red bar in a master raid and I don't feel powerful, or pleased i completed harder content. I feel relieved that its done with, and glad that I don't need to play until the next season story mission drops. I'm not paying for the Final Shape, I'll watch it on twitch or YT to see how the main story finished, but I'm not holding out any hope that its going to be good. Its a fun issue, not a skill issue.

3 RepliesAll these entitled elitists on here with - put a loadout together. Put in the effort. Smeg off. All Bungie did was ramp up the difficulty exponentially. But, they're giving you nothing in return. Why tf should people have to put inthe extra effort, if you're not giving them anything for it? The rewards aren't better. The stats and perks are still trash. There's no incentive for the effort. This is a freaking video game. All these tryhards, sweats, and steamers are trying to turn it into a damn job. And it ain't just Bungie that's following this model - and it's a big reason why these games start to suck azz after a while.

They've made all the enemies more powerful and all the guardians weaker. To me, it seems like Bungo has no idea what to do. They can't keep everyone happy. But, they sure's heck shouldn't be acquiescing to streamers.

God even patrols on neomuna is impossible especially when nobody else is around. Can we just have levels on things. MAKE D2 DRUNK friendly punks

1 ReplyAgreed. Everything should be opt in. Instead they just dropped the lowest difficulty, increased the grind by a LOT, decreased points to obtain pinnacles and upped red bar health 10 fold.
