This has been on request for multiple years.
Is everyone on the same console/PC? Maybe everyone can turn off cross play or change console dates to avoid matchmaking. Those are the typical tricks.

Switching off cross play works well if you want to go in with a friend as it's highly unlikely a 3rd will join due to most having cross play on.
