I use guardian ranks as a sign of who likely understands buildcrafting and is competent at end game content. Commendations are useless though

they are meaningless in the sense that after the season ends we all go back to Rank 6 lol. No point in grinding ranks just to have them removed in 3 months. Also, you cant control who gives youan accomendation and who doesnt, therefor someone who is competent can have a lower rabnking due to people choosing not to engage in giving out commendations. The only way to maake them mean something is to not reset them after every season

Exactly…what’s the point if they remove and reset each season. I think Bungie doesn’t really think through things sometimes. Zero point in investing time into something they just take away each season .

Sure, that's your perspective, but to me, the people who care more about ranks and commendations are also more in tune with how to perform well in most content. It's just my perspective, but it's an easy way for me to see who's more likely to be competent. If you participate in end game content like raids or dungeons, just send a message in the text chat and ask for commendations. It's not hard to communicate that. I just did it tonight for the blue commendations for rank 10, and I got all of the ones I needed

Respectfully disagree. I do everything and could care less about guardian ranks because they just reset every season. There are plenty of guys that I play with that feel the same way.
