Just don't care about Guardian Ranks, dude. Your entire issue is predicated on Bungie successfully making you care about something that didn't exist a month ago and has no actual gameplay effect. Bungie got you guys with Triumphs and Seals and they got you again.
Just pay it no mind.

I would but they've done a Bungie a tied the few loadout slots to Ranks. If like me you wouldn't buy Lightfall however, then you're also stuffed and forever limited to just 6.

That's giw I felt at first. But now that they moved the legend lost sector triumphs, progressing to at least 7 seems necessary simply for the extra loadouts. Yeah I can use dim but the in game one is a lot faster so I keep my most used sets in game

Well all I can say is do PvP. People don't high tail it after a match like Gambit so I see people getting and giving those cards a lot there.
