Splitting Control into two modes trying to please everybody was a mistake. Just pick one.

  • No it wasn't. Getting checkmate shoved down your throat. I equipped revision zero and guess what? Went about as well as I expected. Checkmate complaints; - too many deathballs - overall team skill makes more of an impact than singular due to the lowered ttk - Some weapons became decent like 180 scouts with kill clip, now not even kill clip can save that piece of crap - No abilities or special ammo to break up groups, meaning the oh so gun skill duels are non existent. Don't believe me, try breaking up a group on your own which could be done with abilities or special Other than that, it's not a bad gamemode but if that is my only option besides trials and comp to play. I don't get motivated to play at all. Checkmate feels incredibly slow

If they are clustered and you have no abilities or super you play defensive until a flank or any backup. You want a singleplayer experience in PvP but you gotta think about the big picture in this mode. I understand if that sounds 'lame' because Bungie allowed poor PvP balance for too long (same thing happened with MW2 so now the ADHD babies got their Saturday morning cartoon back in MW3). But Checkmate is in fact how it's supposed to work. Abilities are too slow, tho.

  • The 180 is because the TTK is almost the same with kill clip than it is in normal control. You can 3 tap in normal control with kill clip, the entire reason its mostly wanted on those guns anyways. Checkmate just gives you another bodyshot to work with. Does not lower the TTK and this is exclusive to checkmate and its sandbox. Don't believe me? Test it Unless they changed it. And if you don't know what deathballing is. It's basically where 6 people at the same time shoot eachother and by the end of it, 1 or may be standing. That is the deathball, don't participate in said deathball? Well that sounds unfortunate, no kills for you and it's not that I want a solo pvp experience. I play mostly with a buddy. And the same thing remains. As for the wait and camp? That's the problem with checkmate, you have to wait until everyone respawns which literally is why camping with a scout is so prevalent. For the people that enjoy it. By all means, enjoy it, but I play 1 or 3 games a week of checkmate at most before I start questioning my life choices because again, overall teamskill matters way more. https://www.xbox.com/play/media/VrVJyyMWGS Don't worry, all the people in that screen had a good time on my team. And the same thing remains.[/quote] No, what I meant by that is you want your actions to have a disproportionate effect on a battlefield filled with players who have equal desire to impose their will in the fight.
