So what’s the problem with abandoning it & just letting it sit in the kiosk?

that's fine if i don't want to look at it, but considering it states that it should have expired, it shouldn't be anywhere, hence the report

You don’t have to look at it when it’s abandoned. Plus, expired doesn’t always mean automatically deleted.
