It really depends what you want out of the game. If you want the most to do and items to get, then yes, pay for the expansions. But saying what you have access on f2p is "pitiful", is a little hyperbolic. If you just want a pvp experience, outside of trials, it's all free. Mess around with strikes, raids, dungeon; free. Powerful Gear and Story/campaign experience is what you are missing. A good chunk, yes. But also not what you reply often. Purpose of this post was just to highlight an issue for those that are F2P/don't own forsaken and to notify Bungie that: A) this is going to lead to an uproar in a few weeks, and B) to remove the crafting restriction for campaign ownership.

It's not hyperbolic at all. The only good thing about free to play is The Destiny 1 raids and Prophecy and Dares of Eternity, provided you aren't someone on console who needs to pay for an online subscription to play raids. The rest is extremely barebones. Gambit is its usual neglected self. If you want to go to neomuna, you're locked out of fast travelling to terminal overload and vex strike force isn't even accessible. You can't get the full loot from the terminal overload either. When a weekly nightfall is a certain strike you don't have paid access to, you're locked out of the nightfall that week. PvP even outside of trials puts you at a huge disadvantage if you don't have strand or stasis and let's not pretend like conditional finality isn't extremely meta and well/bubble countering. You speak to shawn han who has an arbalest quest? A weapon that didn't even come from Lightfall? You still need lightfall to get it. I could go on but i've made it pretty clear that it's not hyperbole. You go ahead and make a free to play account, play for at least 50 hours without getting bored/frustrated from how little you have access to, then get back to me.

I'm not saying the F2P part is perfect. Platform subs are annoying for basic features, base version of NFs needing the relevant expansion are annoying, etc.. But you are incorrect in some parts. Terminal Overload is a LF activity, but you can still get world drop loot from it on F2P (and go to the zone for the activity, you just can't queue). And you can, in fact, get Strike Force loot. Got many exotics from it on my F2P. Additionally, arbalest is F2P. That quest (along with a few others) are just linked to a/the newest expansion as a value add to quickly get some loot. Arbalest will drop from exotic engrams. I've made 2 F2P to test what is/isn't free-to-play. I've had fun and you can get quite good gear. Played for dozens of hours and have had friends do the same (to spice things up and see how powerful you can become...spoilers, quite powerful). ----- This post really isn't for debating F2P vs F-2-try or what have you. Just pointing out that this event is Free, for all players, and has a big crafting oversight that is going to lead to angry players in a few weeks.

I wasn't calling that out as incorrect. More-so just highlighting you can do the activity, just can't queue it. But you were incorrect on Vex Strike Force: it's a f2p event on Neomuna that will drop anyone an exotic upon completion. Loot table is just based on what DLCs you own. Again, this is getting away from the core issue. So, I'm not going to continue this conversation, as it isn't relevant to the help post.

blind well and altars being free makes terminal overload (wow you get 1 world drop loot chest at the end insane! but you can't even fast travel to it) and vex strike force not being free even funnier. especially vex strike force when you consider that the lightfall exotics are obtainable from riven's wishes for everyone.
