Unfortunately a lot of New Lights really don't want help like that. I've picked up plenty of New Lights and tried getting them endgame ready so they can tackle whatever comes their way, but a lot of them really aren't all that interested. I think most just want to goof around and explore

Just going off my own experience, I would much rather run around and learn a new game on my own. I might reach out later when I feel like I need it, either through joining a clan or LFG, probably watching tutorials and the like. But good for OP on wanting to reach out, there probably will be takers if you put yourself out there. I will probably try to run a Prophecy for new players when the Wish quest turns up.

Yeah that's pretty much what the feel I get from most, and honestly even for myself I didn't reach out to play with others until I completed the entire storyline on all my characters so. I found it's best to just give assistance when players ask, but don't offer more help than what was asked. Even if it's necessary for their task sometimes they're just not there yet and can get overwhelmed
