Totally Agree. The servers are connected, I'm not very knowledgeable, but at the least every once in a while they could hold old events for Sparrow Racing, Iron Banner, or even Trials (Once a year trials event for D1?) for the people that are coming in. I know we can't really see the numbers for all the players across PSN and Xbox, but I have a hunch that there are more players than people expect, still rocking D1.
