How is the chalice pack-mule determined? I have seen friendships ruined by poor chalice assignment. I’d recommend a general rotation. Unless everyone is being cool about it. Then it’s a non issue.

  • Yeah, I saw your name pop up! :D I've never run a Discord server, so most of how this works is beyond me, but at the very least, it seems to be joinable. :p

Generally speaking, when I play online I go by the general rule of the host carries the Chalice. This is mostly just to ensure the host is playing the dungeon they want to play. While that particular reasoning doesn't really apply in these game nights, as I want everyone to be able to explore the dungeon without me running the most efficient route for everything, the "host carries the Chalice" rule is still just fine by me. The host, of course, being me. If somebody else wants to carry the Chalice, they can, as long as they don't do the aforementioned obnoxious activities, but if nobody wants to carry it, then it shall be my burden. I have played 600 hours of this game after all. It'd be pretty weird if I wasn't okay with carrying the Chalice by this point.

  • Sweet. I’d probably be down periodically. Though I find life makes committing to times difficult. I’d give way for other more enthusiastic party members, but feel free to reach out if there’s a vacancy. Would this be from scratch characters?

  • Yeah, the idea is to start from scratch. This is for two reasons: 1. I'm pretty sure you and I are the only people here who have played it before, so playing with anything but a new character would leave anyone else who joined severely underlevelled. :p 2. I haven't actually played with a new-new character in, like forever. Like, I've been maxing out all my dudes, but I usually provide them with an Acies/Chronicle set of armor, and whatever their best Accessory is, so while they usually have newbie stats, they're also usually beefier than normal. My most recent dude even has the Force Ring, which kinda completely changes how I play the game. But, like, this only really sounds fun if I'm playing with a team. If I play with randos, some endgame player will just hop into all my newbie lobbies and wipe the floor with everything, and playing online is more fun than playing alone, so if I don't have a team I may as well just host/join endgame/postgame lobbies online in the first place. That said, if you have endgame/postgame level characters, I'm pretty much always down to play FFCC, game nights aside. I have 7 maxed out dudes, and an 8th guy who's on the brink of being maxed out, too. In fact, if you play with any amount of regularity, and run/join tier 3 or above dungeons I'm willing to bet we've already played together at least once. I play way, way too much of this game! :D If you're ever wanting to play, whether that's for funsies, game nights, or if you need help clearing Rainy Ruins or something, I'm pretty much always up for it.

  • Sweet. I admit to playing less of the remaster than I did the original. So you’re set up will be far and beyond anything I’ll have quick access to. But it is a fun game to drop a little time into every now and then. So I’ll almost certainly take you up on that outside of game nights just for fun. I really enjoy the push from early level play, so I tend to restart characters fairly regularly. But a little incentive to develop them further might save a few of them their usual fate.

  • Haha, I don't blame you for liking the early game. I actually love it more than the endgame, too. One thing I really love about my "new character with postgame equipment" setup is that by adjusting my gear, I can play at pretty much any level. If I equip the starter weapon, I can play the early game dungeons, and by equipping postgame gear, my stats can easily skyrocket into the 60s, which is where I was at the end of my original file, meaning I can play Tier 3 dungeons, too. Equipping weapons that are somewhere in the middle lets me join literally any dungeon, barring postgame stuff, which is great! I also love the magicite system, and while I don't disagree with the game's decision to give you permanent versions of the spells, I do always kinda wish the time where I have to use the spells I can find. As long as your dungeons are tier 3, though, joining as a maxed out character doesn't take the fun away. While obviously a maxed character will take out baddies faster than someone who's not maxed out, most of the tier 3 dungeons save River Belle are usually still tough enough that the maxed character doesn't just insta-kill everything. If your dungeons are tier 1 or 2, though, well, then playing together might be a little harder with my main file. :p But maxing out characters is also really fun, because there's nothing as satisfying as finally being able to cast Meteor at the end of it all! (even though Meteor's not that good, but ignore that part)
