It might be so. The new Episode system for TFS was created to allow the dev team to take longer breaks. I think it’s pretty obvious that they’re not going to just be sitting on a beach, but rather cooking up a new project. That project could be Marathon, or it could be D3. It really could go either way. They could be working on D3 and keeping it under the radar, OR they could just be preparing for Marathon’s release and the reason they’re letting the game die is because D2 is just out of their focus now. I don’t know if Sony will let Bungie kill their flagship franchise though, so if there is a D3 on the horizon, it better rock our world compared to the steaming pile of garbage we’re in right now.

 • Killing Destiny would arguably be an even bigger blunder for Sony than buying Bungie at this point. Marathon is such a massive risk at this point considering it's basically undergoing a complete rehaul not to mention it has a lot of extraction shooter competition already. I definitely foresee some big transformative moment for Destiny post TFS. Whether it's a complete overhaul to the existing game or a true sequel a la D3 remains to be seen. ITL is definitely giving me reason to believe something is being planned now.

Destiny was virtually the first real first-person looter shooter MMO. It was unlike anything anyone had ever seen. And for it to perfectly follow up from the legacy that Halo left behind, it really grew an incredible reputation. What is Marathon coming from? A washed up company whose flagship game is borderline dead and completely unbalanced. When Bungie made Destiny 1, people looked at it and said “Let’s see if Bungie can make another great game.” Now people are looking at Marathon and saying “Let’s see if this is going to be another flop.” Their reputation is tarnished, and they’re fighting a losing battle.
I definitely foresee some big transformative moment for Destiny post TFS.
I don’t know. It could be our salvation… or it could be our damnation. The future of Destiny rests on the shoulders of TFS. It’s out of Bungie’s hands now. They just have to pray that what they cooked up is good enough. If it isn’t, Destiny is dead.
