There won't be a d3... things can change though, but with the new game I doubt that
Destiny was a 10 year project and through various delays it has gone on a bit longer.
Final shape will be the final year of Destiny, in terms of a live service.... can only assume they are adding the power fantasy now as the game has only a year (+ a few months) left.
I think there was a post from bungie a little while back saying tbc for post final shape, but I think that'll be how the game processes from a live service to a fixed world... assuming they don't just turn the server off (only one server right, lol).

It's anyone's guess at this point. I know investments don't alway go as planned and its clear Sony got swindled hard. I just find it hard to believe Sony would just let the undisputed king of looter shooters just die without trying to turn a profit on the investment.

Well yes, you are right!! It does seem odd that Sony are going to be picking it up, but it is a solid fps shooter and things can be built upon. They could even relaunch as Destiny 'classic' or Destiny 'the complete collection' and create a new game... there's so much content in Destiny, and a verity of things to do, just never all at one time. Lets say you didn't stick with Destiny; many players have left over the years... would you be tempted to be able to play the whole thing (everything, no rotation) for 20 (quid/bucks etc...)?
