Bungie should reconsider the Well nerf

I was reading this article that was posted on Reddit today https://www.pcgamer.com/joe-blackburn-on-destiny-2-conspiracy-theories-what-happened-to-the-pvp-team-and-the-witness-being-able-to-1v1-anyone-in-the-universe/#section-why-light-subclasses-got-new-supers-instead-of-strand-or-stasis And it says this about the new warlock super: "Solar Warlocks can buff all their core abilities and the weapon damage of their allies." So, the whole point of nerfing well was that players felt hamstrung to run the super. But if you keep well's healing abilities and then move the buffing to another super, you're now hamstringing two warlocks instead of just one, as the clear, optimal fireteam build will now be a healer warlock and a buffer warlock. Isn't this counterintuitive to what the point was, which was to reduce the number of warlocks running Well of Radiance because it was "required for high end content"? But if these quotes from Bungie are right, the same number of warlocks will be running supers to produce the same effect, which is healing + buffing, but now we'll need 2 warlocks to do it and the effect will last half as long (instead of two wells, we now have to do one well and one New Solar Super at the same time, burning two supers at once). Plus, warlocks who want to do things solo, like solo flawless dungeons, won't have the catch-all ability anymore, having to choose between survivability and damage, when other classes don't really have to do that (strand titans with 1-2 punch and tractor and invis hunters with tether have survivability, damage, and debuff all built in). This feels like a massive step backwards for warlocks, who had healing and buff, but no damage. Now we'll lose healing to get buff + damage or lose buff + damage to get healing. It's a lose-lose and there's no way to accomplish damage + survivability + buff/debuff in the same build unless the boss is accompanied by a healthy number of adds, of which only a few exist in solo-able content. While there are still things we don't know, from the information we do know, warlocks don't have a lot to look forward to when these changes come down the pipe, as our best super is now being divided into two less good supers and fireteams that want healing and buff now require two warlocks hamstrung to solar instead of just one. You're not gonna listen, Bungie, but it's pretty clear that the "hype" you're trying to build around this is polishing a turd and the only people begging for it are people who are relevant for approximately 12 hours a year (day 1 contestants). For everybody else, this kinda sucks. Anyone who wants to play support will be better suited to switching to a Saint 14 bubble titan build that'll accomplish infinite overshield and damage buff. Warlocks simply can't compete in terms of efficiency in high end content sans movement tech like well skating. The other classes have better survivability, damage, and buff/debuff capabilities, and the one thing that warlocks had to compete with that is now being split into two. Thanks for nothing. This is going to be actually bad.

  • The nerf to well should be to the healing abilities. Its usage everywhere is not because of the damage buff. There are stinger buffs. The near immortality that it grants is why.
