You can now remaster one game.

By some divine miracle, you suddenly have all the money and technical help you need to remaster a single game from yesteryear. You have total creative freedom over the project and a publisher will release whatever you end up creating on all current platforms. What game do you choose and what do you do to it? Limitations Remember this is a remaster, not a remake. Yes the definitions overlap somewhat, but this is how I’m defining them: a Remake is a brand new game that broadly follows the same story and design briefs that the original did, but it’s as if the original game was being pitched now with all the creative freedom that entails (think Tomb Raider: Anniversary or Oddworld: New n Tasty). A Remaster on the other hand is supposed to be a better version of the original game, and is fundamentally the exact same game in terms of design and story as the original, just updated in various ways to take advantage of modern hardware and other gaming advances (think Halo: Anniversary or Spyro Reignited). The more you change beyond the graphics and controls, the further away from a remaster you get and the closer you get to a remake.

 • I’m back with more! Sega Superstars Tennis
I’m not usually into sports games, but the exception is definitely tennis games. If I were to get into any sport irl, Tennis would probably be where I’d go—which is funny because I don’t like pickelball, which is probably really similar. But man, I loved Sega Superstars Tennis. And not just because I was abke to play as NiGHTS (though that’s a big part of it) The changes: -Eggman now uses his mecha tennis arm thing from the intro The new stuff: -Nothing. New characters wouldn’t be unwelcome, but we already have both NiGHTS & Reala, so…
Spyro: A Hero’s Tail
Hot take: The first two Spyro games weren’t very good. The third one was fun, but considering how much hate I saw for Year of the Dragonfly, I was pretty surprised to find it was a darn faithful sequel to Year of the Dragon. Which isn’t bad, but with all the hype the originals got, I was a little shocked that none of them were nearly as good as the actual best Spyro game; A Hero’s Tail! This game is one of the best collectathons out there. I’d love to play it again. The changes: -None. The game is fine just the way it is. The new stuff: -Also none. Just gimme A Hero’s Tail again.
