It's opening the director and the vault? I think those are tied to separate buttons so perhaps check your controls and set them to default. If this doesn't work mind showing a video? I can't do much without seeing and Bungie will ask for you to send a video anyways before they do anything so it speeds up the process of it being fixed if it's just completely broken.

I will post a link to a video showing the problem tomorrow. I hold down the correct button to activate the mission. Rather than getting the mission menu (for the difficulty level and the launch button), it opens the vault. Upon exiting that view, the director opens. It's very frustrating.

Alright when you send the video I'll see if I can find a fix if not then you'll have to wait for Bungie and the devs sadly aren't given much time to fix issues.

As viiTactiiCZz says. Controller doesn't have a lot of inputs so slightly modifying them can lead to things like this. For now just slap interact to something that doesn't open a menu

you'll need to alter your keybinds to start the missions. Can you go to settings -> controller -> button layout -> additional settings (bottom tab options) -> change interact to something like X and retry it? DPAD Down on console opens the vault on the director map - so when you're holding it to start the mission - its launching the director prompt -> because you're holding dpad down its then opening vault -> backing out of vault puts you back into the director screen

Wow. That was exactly it, guys. Thanks! I had changed those controls almost 2 years ago for trials so that it would free up my right stick on reviving teammates. And when I saw the vault menu in the director had been added, I presumed it would have been set to square had I had the default controls. What a crazy coincidence! Thank you so much for your help!
