Sure there could be some changes but the core activity is good. This beats the season activities of perhaps the past two years. Fun, challenging, good rewards - I'll be back for more.
For a more detailed critique, I'd suggest checking out the other posts on the discussion board.

Legend mode blows and it gets boring too quick.

Edited by Reprimer: 4/12/2024 10:26:24 PMMy only problem with onslaught is the tormentor with 80 billion health that destroys my ADU

50 waves is a bit of a long haul. But guys, that’s not the Recluse they are handing out. They might call it The Recluse and make it look like The Recluse but unless you’ve ground out comp PvP for two months like I had to (because I am rubbish at PvP) and watched your level rise, drop, drop, rise, rise, drop, drop etc. until that final match where you nail it, it’s not The Recluse. Bungie, please let all of us that got it the hard way light level it up.

Escalation Protocol v2.0.

Started falling asleep with controller in hand on wave 21 … it just the same thing over and over and over. I like the premise of onslaught. I like Shaxx, the “story” behind it, the guns, and I’m ok with the loot being time gated, but the event itself is 😴
-
It gets stale fast. They repackaged battlegrounds and called it a day. Why can't players see that. You defend an area, move a little(teleport), defend another area, boss fight. The classic destiny formula. They only reason why you might like it is because the ads aren't as tanky on legend difficulty. And they give you a lot of heavy crates.

Not for me, to repetitious ,confined area's . Got bored after level 10, But the shax hall is ok . I will only play that if Im chasing a weapon or roll that's it and not very much.
-
It’s alright to me. Not bad in any way, but I already got bored really quickly after wave 20. I’d like a system to be implemented similar to rivens lair where you can purchase upgrades for your guardians like increase ability regen etc.
-
I'm sad to say, I got bored with it pretty quick.

Edited by Kouz_MC: 4/11/2024 2:42:48 PMI have been a good customer and watched a streamer yesterday as Bungie reckons this game should be enjoyed. I find interesting how dried content periods seem to affect players’ judgment, because honestly what I saw was just the same ol’ same ol’. It’s free content, ok. But what I watched didn’t make me want to play, at all. I spoke with a few friends who stopped playing too. Everyone watched some streams, nobody played. Guess it’s a win for Bungie’s vision of Destiny. A game that is watched rather than played.

Remove Gambit, replace it with Onslaught. Done deal. Revamp old Gambit weapons as Onslaught rewards. I.E. Bottom Dollar and Borrowed Time. They aren’t going to be keeping these BRAVE weapons around forever, so some updated Gambit rewards in an actually fun game mode could be good. I like Onslaught, as I’m a PvP player and when I hop in to PvE, I don’t want my only Quickplay PvE options to be Dares. Other than Dares, every other PvE activity is at least 30 minutes and it’s usually sweaty. Like GMs or Dungeons. Raids is just too long of an activity for me, as I have the time but lack the attention span. Onslaught is a game mode that I could genuinely see myself playing. It’s the fun “kill everything power fantasy” game mode that lets you try out a REAL ad clear build. When you think about it, most game modes have either not enough ads or ads that are too strong to kill on bulk. Like for example, in Dungeons and Dares, there isn’t enough enemies to really be able to tap into the ad clear potential of a really good build. And if that wasn’t enough, your teammates will end up killing most of them anyways. In GMs the enemies have too much health for you to be able to bulk ad clear. But in Onslaught, there’s enough enemies for everyone to kill stuff, and they’re not too difficult so that you can’t kill them at all. I’ve been using Voltshot on Ikelos and Thunderlord with Vesper of Radius and Spark of Ions. I never knew how much potential the “Jolt God” idea had in it. For higher levels of Onslaught, Stasis Warlock with Aeon Soul and mass Freeze chaining can really help your team to single out big targets and quickly take them down. I’m also looking into Behemoth with Diamond Lance. The possibilities really are endless, and with Prismatic on the way? Psh, this game mode could be one of the biggest hits Bungie has seen in a while.

While I wasn't actually playing the game at the time due to my 3½ year hiatus from 2020-2024, I watched a lot of videos of Plunder... It looked VERY fun compared to Onslaught.
-
Loses it luster rather quickly. Did 50 on normal and thought, well I’m assuming legendary is just more tanky ads and prob just spam champions so it’s pretty much your standard Horde Mode. But, that’s just an opinion from a very passive Horde Mode player. Enjoy👊🏼

I like it. I think there are a few waves that are a bit cheap/unfun, but that’s about it. Not counting the Tormentor since thats supposed to be an oh-sh!t moment. Invis Marauders only round. The big yellow bars are really tanky and have basically no aim assist for controller players. (Not normally an issue but with how tanky and how they ignore everything and go straight to the ADU, it’s a bit much) Shrieker spawns of midtown. Having them just spawn right near the adu and high up enough that a Titan barricade doesn’t always help just feels bad. Having your team wipe to “oh shriekers spawned in and the audio queue was lost in Wizard screams” just is not fun. Other than that, I don’t really have the desire to go for 50 waves on legend so the title is a wash, but it’s not a bad mode to farm weapons in.
-
It isn't bad, but I don't see myself engaging with it once I get the stuff I want. It's kind of like Corn Flakes.
-
I'm already beyond bored with it. It's just doing the same thing over and over and over again. And the weapons are just okay. Nothing to write home about.

SHOCKWAVE 134
Elite tier Hunter mains community - old
Typically those of us that are lone wolves/special forces of our clans usually carry the community in these types of activities. My clan commander sent me to recon this new activity for the clan. -
No, its not. Rewarding so bad in this activity. You wasting 5-6h for maybe 1 good perks gun.
-
Prob the best activity they have ever made. Some things bug me a bit like enemies teleporting onto the ADU or needing to switch loadouts before boss fights but that’s small potato’s honestly. I like playing the 10 rounder just for a chill goof around.
-
I think it’s okay. I’m def not gonna label this a win, after only a couple days.
-
Onslaught is fun af
-
Yeah. Huge W.
-
Its enjoyable but legend needs some tuning lol. I've completed 50 wave legend and those tormentors found bodybuilder level roids lol.
-
After having cleared all 50 waves on each map I can say I am officially welmed with the mode, not bad not amazing
-
Edited by The Hermit IX: 4/12/2024 6:57:34 AMI think it pairs well with the loot you get to chase. Variations of S tier weapons is the way. With the weapons they chose it will be repayable for a long while. Honestly it didn’t feel as long as the playing time involved. Thats a good indicator and it’s something they can build on IMO. I forget how long into the 50 waves but I got a shiny Elsie headseeker roll drop.

Yes I love the nostalgia I feel playing gears of war 2
