Major oops on their part. Bungie devs already explained that shiny variants were to be [b]plentiful[/b] and [u]rare[/u] as in [i]played and obtained during the very short and limited time to show that you played during that time[/i], [b]not[/b] rare as in extremely bad drop rates.
