Bungies issue with Destiny has always been trying to create some epic “challenge” or legacy behind content in the game. Specifically so the nerds that no life it can feel special. All fun in the game is reduced to meta drudgery. Before anyone calls me a causal… I have raid titles, gilded conq x10 etc and I still feel this way.

 • And what are they supposed to do. A game is fun when there is a challenge and a triumph. Look at Day 1s. Look at the Legendary versions of the campaigns. Look at GMs. All of them are really popular modes and events because of the challenge associated with them. If we decrease difficulty to increase diversity, that challenge is removed, and the Meta builds sweep through the content easier. The best method is by making the meta builds weaker in comparison, which is called Nerfing.

 • Yet none of those things are actually challenging outside of day ones. Bungie has always tried to create faux difficulty. Hell half the GMs are harder simply because Bungie is so lazy they just control/pasted battlegrounds in not even caring if they work right. Protecting against champion respawns ruining platinum is harder than the actual GM itself lol. The only real difficulty in the game is Day 1s and the majority of difficulty there is not knowing the strat and having to solve it ( good thing ). Solo Flawless dungeons can also be hard because they scale the damage to 3 people and have a ton of mechanics that don’t work that ruin flawless runs. They don’t fix them and don’t care because it just makes players spend more time in them AND just like pvp Bungie doesn’t actually care about the game being comp or balanced. Just the illusion that it is. The nerfs and obsession with the artifact are exactly why the meta is super stale. They need to be ok with the only part of the game that’s actually challenging ( day 1 raids and trials ) being the challenge and the rest of the game being the lol fest that it is. I will say they tried with all the new ways to stun champs but it just made the game…you guessed it easier lol Destiny is not known for a comp or difficult game. Bungie would do well to stop pretending and just let us have fun. Put on anti barrier…. All your guns are anti barrier etc. Right now every season is defined by what fits the artifact or not. They killed build crafting on armor in lightfall, guns and builds are completely seasonal now and seasonal mods are allowed to be completely op…. Why? Because it’s better to be so artifact dimensional? No… so players will buy the season lol has nothing to do with balance, enjoyment or health of the game. Destiny is one big meta string along and once you’ve played long enough that feeling just never goes away.

 • I agree that the game is easy, and it has never really been difficult. Not like other games, but my point of challenge equating fun still stands. Those activities may not be difficult in comparison to other games, or even a skilled player, but they are more challenging compared to the rest of the game. And people enjoy the added challenge. Buffing a build does not make the game any harder, but it does make it easier. Not all games need to be difficult to be enjoyable, but all games do have a challenge within them. Let’s take Minecraft for example. It’s by no means a hard game, but there are challenges, both self imposed and made within the game, like Hardcore, which make the game more fun for the players. Challenges create a goal, whether that be surviving to the end, or beating some game, or some other thing. Challenge is what causes a player to become better, and by making the game easier, you remove part of that challenge, thus reducing the reason to become better and the reason you would enjoy the game. Do you think a player could spend 1 thousand to 2 thousand hours within Destiny 2 had they not played the more challenging and more difficult content? No.
