Calus and Clovis are essentially the same. Both are narcissistic. Both are not great Dads. Oryx was made through the Sword Logic. His son denounced the Sword Logic, and thus denounced Oryx. How would you feel had your own child Denounced you? He was also disciplining Crota, who was acting a fool. As for the Hive, their love is so different and foreign to that of humanities, unlike the Cabal and Eliksni, who share very similar views of Love to humanity. Simply put, we can not judge what is cruel and not when it comes to the Hive. The Sword Logic is not simply a religion. It is a way of life, and the very principle to which the Hive must live.

And The Sword Logic is a lie created by the Witness, to trick the Krill who were meant to be chosen by the Traveler, Oryx wanting revenge for Crota defies Sword logic , all 3 of the krill sisters has shown human emotions and desires , that's why Savathun switched sides, during deep we also heard Xivu talk about how much she missed Oryx , true Sword logic dictates the dead deserved to die , so she shouldn't care , Savvy even called her a hypocrite -
To be fair, killing Crota severed a massive tithe of tribute to Oryx and could be interpreted as a challenge to him, in this case vengeance is an answer. If you want actual hypocrisy, look at Xivu Arath. She refuses to acknowledge us where Oryx actually welcomed our challenge when we slew his Court.
