Hey there. Unfortunately all cooldowns are mandatory, there are no exceptions.
Bungie does not forcibly adjust anyone's cross-save setups, it has to be done by the user.

Yes, Sure Wrong Select& Mistakes Possible. Lots of Users Faces Same Issue from Years. At Least a Deactivate Option from the Assistance Team to Unlink other Accounts and the Main Account will be Auto Selected or Create a Way So User Can Deactivate Cross Save to settle this Matter Instead of Just Being Stuck and Missing the Events.
