Resetting after 10 waves isn't a cheese Cheesing is the word we use for exploiting development oversights or bugs to do something that the devs never intended us to be capable of. They explicitly designed onslaught to be an activity you can drop out of or go on for the full 50 waves. They said as much in the reveal streams. This is completely within the bounds of the activities design. That being why they added more rewards to later waves, because they realized that there wasn't enough incentive to keep going past wave 10.

I’d argue it is a cheese considering they are reworking it to be more rewarding at later rounds. So obviously they never intended for people to just dip out after ten rounds

Bungie intended it they even expected it but they think players would spend extra time trying to get +1 weapon by doing all 50 waves when the difficulty (Not even it being hard just enemies getting super bulky and bullet spongy) doesn't match the loot. This has been an issue for a LONG time pretty much every time they add a new difficulty or activity the loot in it is basically "instead of an 20% chance you get a 22% chance! Wow aren't we generous?" then they get complaints so they double the loot and in the case of gms they add in new loot to make it worth it. Onslaught is just one of many launching in a way where the +1 extra weapon from doing 50 waves wasn't worth it over farming the first 10 and in response they're making it so the further in you go the more bonus loot you get.

They intended it to be possible, they didnt want it to be the best way to get loot
