Attunement is poorly designed.
Look, the fact that we can change our drop chances is great. But if I attune, it should just be that weapon. I actively just don't finish the quest for the new guns I don't want. So I can get more of what I've been trying to get.
I'd love to get shineys of all the guns. But I'm not reattuning until I get the shiney I want from the gun I want. Making this frustrating to get random things I've got 0 interest in. Looking at you, elsie's rifle, hung jury, succession, and recluse.

1 ReplyI have zero confidence -blam!- isn’t throttling the drop rate of good rolls, attuned weps, and the whole Onslaught experience to try and keep player engagement high. Problem is, it has the opposite affect. I stop playing activities that aren’t rewarding for the time I put in them. Rng is just too lousy in this game to argue with sometimes. Make it rain bungie and the players will play.

Yeah the attunement seems like it got switched off or something. The last few times I've been running onslaught I will get 6-7 of a different weapon before I get the attuned one. That feels terrible lol

They could have at least made it to where you could choose to attune 2-3 at one time. Then having different things drop wouldn’t be so aggravating. What’s the point? Attune one thing and then it doesn’t even drop once during the activity for you.

1 ReplyMy two cents: If you have a good funnelweb you aren’t missing much with recluse. Recluse is only better imo because the shiny has multiple perks on it and can become enhanced when tfs launches but still a pref thing

When Bungie used the word "attunement", that was a huge clue that we will get screwed. If they used "Focusing", then it would have been a different story. But Bungie wants us to feel the wrath of RNGesus every freakin' time!

Attunement seems not to work to any great effect anywhere. Be it the box next to Shaxx or chests and drops from either legend or normal clears. AT best it just marginally changes your luck to receive what you want. Bungie.. we want guarantees to at least obtain the weapon we want, if not the perks etc as well.

1 ReplyAttunement is great! I love not getting the gun i focused for. So what if i just spent two hours farming for tokens to open the chest amd 2 of my 17 drops were my attuned weapon. I'm having fun!!!

2 RepliesBefore this week whatever I had attuned dropped pretty frequently and now I atune forbearance and Ive only seen 1 drop. I did get a shiny Edge Transit but garbage perks in all 4 slots

If I attune a certain weapon (M Coup) I am happy to run my 10s and 20-bounty runs to farm that weapon, and that weapon only. If a shiny variant of that weapon drops - even better. I want to be swimming in my chosen attuned weapon until I’ve got the few rolls I’m after…and once that’s done, I’ll switch attunement to my next weapon I’m after, and go farm that… I do not expect any other weapon to spoil my farming of my attuned weapon…with the exception of a shiny weapon of any type. This is what I expected…but it’s not what I’ve experienced. Besides this disappointment, the throttling mechanism appears to be in force yet again, despite BHQs ‘trust us…you’ll be swimming in loot’ Dev comments made in those streams. BHQ: ‘Trust us…we’ve got your back!’ 🤥 Reasonable Guardians say: ‘BHQ - no! you’ve only got our backs up…’ 🤨 SMH 🙄 Ease springs! 🫡 Club 49er

I don't mind getting random weapons, but atleast in the very rare chance a shiny does drop make it the weapon I've attuned. I've 4 or 5 Elsie's rifles, a gun I've never attuned.

Personally, I rather if we attuned then it was 100% and then when I get the rolls I would like, I will then move on to the next weapon. But there will be others who enjoy the slight RNG to attainment. Hard to please everyone, hard to even please the majority.

My attunements with what weapon I had tuned, would drop pretty frequently. Now that I attuned Forbearance I have only had it drop 2x is my past few runs. First it was Edge Transit being bombarded and last night it was Hammerheads. I did get 2 shinys but 1 was all crap rolls and the other was just decent.

2 RepliesI can tell you’ve not played many other games besides Destiny if you’re taking issue with attunement Honestly the fact it exists regardless of percentage is more than you’ll find in many other games. I used to complain about drops in Destiny before I started playing other games. Now that I’m back playing it I have quickly realized just how player friendly Bungie has made the grind. The grind in Destiny coupled with attunement is an absolute blessing for players. Go play Diablo IV and grind the end game boss 100s and 100s of times in hopes you get the Uber Unique item you’re needing for your characters build. Have fun with that. You’ll come back to Destiny and realize just how easy this grind truly is to get your desired item and roll.

Okay while this is all completely valid and I agree - uh, you absolutely should get Elsie’s Rifle. That thing is a -blam!- monster in both PvE and PvP, easily the best void pulse in the game by FAR aside from exotics. Recluse is more nostalgia than anything, so I get that - you should REALLY go after Elsie’s.

7 RepliesThe shinies are supposed to be rare........attuning won't necessarily improve your odds. That being said you should have more often than not....drops of the weapon you're attuned to. Sometimes it feels like the attunement doesn't take effect at all. Just a suggestion. Try turning it off an on again........sounds ridiculous but I did notice a slight difference when I did re attune.

Fully expecting to see a load of burn out in the next few weeks that'll cause some players to avoid the end of season fortnight/TFS for a bit
