After playing and observing for close to a month now somehow a meta of shotguns and handcanon's, ability spam, subclass imbalance, and team shooting has shifted into an even worse hand canon/shotgun meta, still with plenty of ability spam, still with plenty of class/subclass imbalance, and even worse team shooting but with less special ammo. I am just plain confused. Shotguns and HC's are still the best options in every part of the crucible (especially when conditional finality still hasn't been nerfed). Ability spam is everywhere with fights always starting with a threadling grenade or melee ability plus every barricade that goes down in trials granting an overshield, and class/subclass balance is still atrocious with strand hunters, bubble titans, and air dodging warlocks dominating the meta. Every weekend trials report supports this with 40%+ of all players in trials being hunters, the overwhelming majority of titans all playing bubble for the fast super + free overshield, and solar being favored on warlock as the last viable thing they have. Please, I love destiny 2 pvp. The gunplay of D2 is stellar but to see it be changed very very slowly over the years and when a team finally gets committed to it they proceed to make some of the worst changes to PvP that I don't think I've seen anyone anywhere ask for is beyond frustrating. No one wanted the special ammo changes, no one wanted body shots to deal no damage, no one likes when their favorite subclass isn't as viable in the meta, no one likes not getting to use the special weapons for the majority of the match that they grinded for, and no one wants to be matched against people waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than they are just because they have similar connection to them. (Where tf is MMR). The community has asked for more maps, weapon balance or at least shifting metas, less ability spam, and better rewards. So far only one of those asks has been addressed positively and its only 3 maps after years of asking (while dozens removed the game sit unused) This is not good PvP, its not terrible and has some good, but its still far from what many players want, and is even worse than it was before the renewed effort to improve it. It is PAINFULLY ironic.
