They need to just buff the damage so it actually does some sort of damage.
It’s a Support weapon (like Div or Tractor) so it can’t deal too much damage, but it needs to be a bit better than what it is now…

Being a machine gun instrinsicly makes it suck because tractor exists. Tractor allows you to use double shotguns or fusions while also providing a lingering debuff. Using an lmg locks you into terrible dps to provid a debuff m

Yeah, but if they up the damage the DPS won’t be quite as bad as it is now base MGs are low for a heavy but not terrible. This also applied debuffs are range. Meaning, it’s viable on those bosses where you can’t get close or stay close for a whole damage phase. For example, Garden’s final boss can be booped, but if you spend the whole damage phase in a well at its feet it might not work out so well for you. All it needs is for its damage to be average for it to at least have some use.
