  • An excellent question due to my failure to include it in my post. Abilities are a great addition to champion staggering, but despite that, the presence of a restrictive meta still exists because of champions. How many times have you've wanted to go into a legend+ content with a specific build and/or weapon but weren't able without indirectly griefing yourself or your fireteam by not contributing enough to anti-champion counters? For me its countless times. And from personal experience, the same people that are for champions are the same people that will kick you from fireteam finder if they see you don't have the right anti-champion build. Bungie would enable players to fully enjoy the wonders they have created with the seemingly infinite possibilities if we didn't have to impose champions in our build considerations.

In all honesty, I wouldn't rely on anything too off meta in content where snipers will 1 tap you. It's how bungie balances it. Its very hard to not run anything anti champion these days. You almost have to try not to. Because what's optimal is also indirectly also the best And even something goofy like a jolt build will deal with a champ. Do I agree with champs? No. They have been the buggiest enemy ever since their iteration in shadowkeep. From not stunning right to clapping cheeks and then being stunned way too late due to latency to even healing in a stun in the case of an overload [quote]For me its countless times. Because regardless of wish, you might have specced into them anyway. I have seen GM runs end because me and a buddy died but we had 10+ revive tokens. But couldn't be revived because a champ couldn't be stunned because the guy adamantly was convinced that you didn't need champion mods. This was before subclasses could stun champs It makes life easier and these days, a game is not a game anymore but a time sink and as such, if you don't run an activity at its highest ratio of attempts in 2 hours, you are suboptimal. Champs are integrated into the game now whether we like it or not. And bungie has been doubling down on them. Some champs are just not fun to deal with all things considered. That's fair
