I kind of feel like champions are an outdated concept in general. There are so many ways to take them out now that they don't even feel like they're needed anymore, which is a good thing. It shows the game has evolved. I thibk with special units like Tormentors and the new enemy type coming with the Final Shape, champions should maybe get removed from the game

  • No way!! Remember when Tormentors showed up and blew us all away?! It was great fun working out strategies to deal with them. Overpowered builds shooting waves of ads would be boring. Maybe you should go play something else?

  • I think they should improve upon them, because to any vet player that knows how to handle them, they immediately become a joke. Tormentors and Wyverns are pretty decent elite units, because you need to actively engage them and exploit their weaknesses, rather than just using a keyword or weapon mod, then immediately melting them while they take like 50% more damage. Barrier Servitors and Overload Chieftains are really the only well designed champion types, because they support their allies, and can be difficult to fight, rather than just going full offense and being easily destroyed. Maybe they should make Champions slower, have them use less abilities, and solely focus on having them make surrounding enemies more dangerous, or limit the player in some way. Unstops could give extremely high damage resistance and reduce stagger to their allies, and produce a damaging aura around them; Overloads could cause enemy units to fire faster or use abilities more often, while reducing the regen rate of nearby Guardian abilities; Barriers could simply provide elemental shields or overshields and reduce ability and elemental damage to their allies. All of these effects would be removed upon stunning the Champion. Of course making new ways to stun them, apart from the subclass quirks we already have is a little more tricky. Consolidating the stun effects to certain weapon types would still be restrictive, but maybe causing a certain type of damage could fill a meter that stuns for a longer duration than it does currently. For example, causing damage would stun Unstops, the more damage, the faster the stun; Maintaining fire stuns Overloads, the more shots hit, the faster the stun, while landing hits on them disrupts their movement abilities; Lastly, damaging enemies shielded by Barrier Champs will weaken it and cause a stun, with more damage or hits on said enemies achieving a faster stun (of course Servitors would need to be altered to only provide resistance instead of full immunity). I think a lot more careful thought needs to be put into this, but I would definitely appreciate it if Bungo made some kind of change to Champions, so they're a little more interesting to fight than they have been for the past several years
