Bungie, Please buff Trace Rifles to be on par with Rocket Assisted Sidearms

Rocket sidearms feel like everything Trace Rifles should have been. They have great ammo economy, they are great for ad clear and majors, and while they aren't the best option for bosses and champions, they are better than primaries, plus they are the only special that can active heavy ammo finder mods. My thoughts; -Increase TR range and damage fall off by 10 meters. Currently, they sit around 35 meters, so this would push them into pulse rifle territory and make them much more effective in end-game content. This would also make them more deserving of their special ammo. -Increase damage vs. minors and majors by 30%. This should help their ammo economy by requiring fewer shots for a kill and make them more effective in end-game content. -Reduce recoil and screen shake. As a pure energy weapon, there should be minimal recoil, especially since they are so reliant on precision hit. -Ability to activate heavy ammo finder mods. While this is probably a bug, honestly, I feel that ad clear focused specials have more of place in the sandbox. -Give them unique TR focused perks. Shotguns have perks like trench barrel, fusions have perks like reservoir burst, so TR should have perks like: Laser Cutter- sustained damage reduces a targets armor and damage resistances by 20% for 10 seconds. Or Blinding Light- rapidly landing 10 crits on a target blinds them for 3 seconds and reduces their tracking, accuracy, and aim assist by 50% for 10 seconds. -Increase reserves by 50-100 ammo. -Add more subarchetypes. I would love to new frames like: Projection Frame - TR fires a cone of energy that is 15 meters long and 6 meters at the widespread point. They deal more body damage, but can't deal crit damage. Or Overcharged Frame - beams cause small 3 meter explosions after a short delay, but have smaller magazines and reserves. All these changes should greatly help them out in pve with making them oppressive in pvp

      The rocket sidearm is weak because the rpm is low and the ammo needs buffed also . needs a serious buff all around.bungie could definitely buff the heck out of trace rifles they suck so bad you can't use them. and the ammo always runs out none stop. making them suck.even more. for some reason bungie don't like trace rifles or makes them so weak might as well throw them in the trash . I would need to see some game changing weapons before I ever buy the final shape. bungie is making players struggle way more then they should. I would really like to know who is behind all this ,is that you Joe??

      • If they were to add shotgun barrel-like differences, I'd love to see the beam vary in size depending on the perk chosen (tighter spread when aiming down sight could be as big as T1 Wavesplitter beam, more spread could be as big as T3 Wavesplitter, etc).

      • I never understood why they felt the need to make legendary versions of these weapons. It's one weapon type that doesn't seem to have a place.

          • I would also like to see these trace rifle buff, but like with imbeded kindness and other "add clear specials" I wonder how primaries would keep up with them. Like most primaries don't have an Hard Hitting Machine tied to them, if specials become The add clear monsters, i would have next to no reason to use them.. But whatever, I just want primaries to feel good outside of patrols and crucible

            • Back when double special was more common they were pretty meta. But yeah I agree (outside of cenotaph warlock or div) no point even running them since wave frame gls and rapid fire fusions are a thing.

              • Yes trace rifles definitely need help in PvE. I want to like them. But i cant really justify them. Not when fusions exist. I like your suggestions. Particularly the range and recoil changes. If they were a more long range option i could pair with a traditional side arm or hand cannon i would be super excited. I don't like that snipers are our only real long range special. I don't like snipers, but we don't have anything else in that range.

              • Trace rifles have always been mid. Outside of the odd exotic TR meta I don't think they've ever been a main "go to" for anything. Pretty much anything they can do an auto can do just as well or better, and they're primary.

                  The thing with trace rifles is that they were designed for exotic ideas, they either consume super energy, create grapple point, or make your enemy into a ball, the frame itself is the least important part, so when they made legendary trace rifles a thing I never understood their position in the game, it's just a steady laser beam, there's no room for error, reward, or niche

                • Here's what I think, you're not going to like it. RSs are too strong. I haven't given any feedback, I'm not asking for a nerf... to be clear. They took oldschool MT and made it a sidearm, that's what RSs are... but they aren't single shot and even easier than MT to aim. They get hellah ammo... In every category they're better than MT ever was in its prime. RSs, with few exceptions, outclass any and all legendary special weapons. So yeah, buff Trace Rifles... why not? I don't think they need it, but the saga is almost over. 😇 👍💠

                • I like the idea of unique perks of a trace rifle (like trench on shotguns). Makes me wonder how potent subclass interactions could work with your idea: the longer the beam is on the target, the more scorch, volatility, jolt (frequency?) procs. Kinda like a trace version of target lock? Dunno. Would definitely try them out more if they had these kind of interactions.

                  • Idk if you can really compare rocket sidearms and taxes because they have very different use cases and purposes. Traces are mostly for utility - for shooting panels, picking up bricks with shoot to loot, switching to other specials. The rocket sidearms are used for add clear on red bars and majors.
