Bungie can and needs to add back the older campaigns they removed.

If Bungie can bring back both The Whisper and the Zero Hour exotic quests that they removed long ago due to sunsetting and the DCV then there is absolutely no reason why Bungie can't bring back the old campaigns that they removed as well. Especially RED WAR and FORSAKEN. Those are the main 2 campaigns that every player actually cared about and that were actually vitally important to the games storyline. We don't need some POS "recap" mission like you gave us for forsaken, that doesn't even remotely tell the entire story of what happened nor do the campaign any sort of justice. Just ADD BACK THE CAMPAIGNS! Let new players actually experience the ENTIRE story of Destiny 2 from start to finish! It's so extremely frustrating and irritating to me that I can go back and play all of these other campaigns that were added after forsaken, but I can't go back and play the 2 campaigns that meant the most and were actually worth replaying. Bungie, we know you can add them back. You could make the missions be able to be launched in order directly from the destinations tab. All you have to do is actually put in the effort to add back what you never should have removed in the first place! Let's be real, you already figured out the smart and better way to do the campaigns with witch queen and lightfall where you made the campaign missions no longer be tied to the actual planet and instead you now launch them from orbit and don't have to even touch the surface of the planet in order to launch a campaign mission. You should do the same for all of the older campaigns and convert them to this improved version. It wouldn't be difficult and in doing so you could simply add a section in the destinations tab specifically for "campaign" and then add back each of the games main campaigns and then make it so you can choose what campaign you want to play (assuming you have bought and own it) and then what mission of that campaign you'd like to launch. I know you can do it and you know you can do it, SO DO IT! Add back Red War, as well as Forsaken. The campaigns that weren't as important and could be covered with recap missions would be the Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns. But it would be nice if you also added those campaigns back as well while you were at it. But I wouldn't care if those 2 got recap missions as they weren't nearly as vitally important to the main storyline as Red War and Forsaken were. While we're talking about the DCV... The raids that have been vaulted Bungie. Mainly the best raid you ever created in all of Destiny history The Leviathan. You seriously NEED to add back the original Leviathan as well and allow players to earn all of the raid weapons again. You wouldn't even have to update them and make them better since you removed sunsetting, just give us back what we paid for! I would also add back all of the other raids you removed as well because removing raids that should have been permanent was NOT OKAY. Anyways that's the end of my rant. Bungie if you want me and many other players to actually buy and play The Final Shape then give us back the content you took from us that we paid for that never should have been removed and taken away from us to begin with. If you do that I will purchase The Final Shape and I will happily replay the entire Destiny 2 story from start to finish and I will absolutely love every moment of it. Edit: I've read a lot of the comments down below and I will say that I don't think they should add back everything that goes with the campaigns. They should only add back the campaigns. Not the planets, not the strikes, just the campaigns. They could add back the missions specifically and separate them from the planets and destinations they take place on and they could rework any missions that would need reworked to work with this new way to play the campaign. It would also be nice to get some recap missions that cover and tell the story of the seasonal content that was removed for the players who didn't get to experience it so that they actually know what happened in those seasons and can stay up to date with the story. As for the raids I think the only raid that truly means a lot to players that was removed is the Leviathan. The others were not as good nor as memorable. But it would still be nice to see them all come back if possible. As for game size and compatibility everyone has been dropping compatibility for older gen consoles and I have to say I agree that support for old gen (PS4 & Xbox One) should in fact be dropped. All it's doing is holding back the game from being as good as it could be. If they dropped support for those older consoles the current generation of consoles could easily handle running a 200gb game (which is about how large Destiny 2 would be with the Red War & Forsaken campaigns added back along with their raids). Yes I know that this isn't Bungie's main priority right now as their main focus is The Final Shape, but in a few months when Final Shape has been out for awhile and everyone begins to get burnt out again the player counts are gonna tank again and new players who didn't get to experience those original campaigns are going to have absolutely no idea wtf is going on when they show references to them in the final shape and I guarantee you adding them back in would bring the player numbers back up as it would give all the newer players who never got to play them the chance to actually go figure out what the final shape was referencing and it would also give all of the veteran players the ability to go back and experience it all again (which I guarantee a lot of us will with how long they've been gone from the game). So yeah in my opinion if the reason that they haven't added these campaigns back is to keep support for PS4 & Xbox One then I say screw that drop support for old gen and make Destiny 2 new gen only. More than 90% of console players have already upgraded to a new gen console by now and if they haven't they will pretty soon because even Sony & Microsoft are slowly dropping support for their older generation consoles. So that's my opinion and I think 200gb isn't outrageous considering that's about how large the current Call Of Duty is anyways so 🤷‍♂️

  • They originally said they were afraid of taking up too much space on your hard drive by adding more and more stuff. But an option to download the content you do care for would be a nice feature.

    • The lowest replayability content. Juice not worth the squeeze at all.

    • The two main missing campaigns and basically all the raids and strikes should be in the game if at all possible.

    • Agree 100% look at games like wow and ffxiv from start to finish anyone can jump on and enjoy the story in its entirety. This is the way the game should be for the future of destiny to be the best it can be. I've posted before about how every year they remove so much content to just fill it in again to only remove it at the next expansion. Hope Bungie listens 🍻

    • I'm not certain that I agree with the conclusion that they can, but, believe me, under any reality where it is possible I agree that they have to. The seasonal stories should also probably be in the game. There's too much stuff that's important to the story that isn't playable. But that's a lot of content. And I do mean a LOT of content. And this game still needs to run on not only ps5 and series x, but xbone and ps4.

      • As they said it is a hardware problem. Consoles do not have the memory capability to hold everything. They have a finite limit of how much game they can load at a time. If the game gets bigger than that number, something has to be removed from the game. Enter the content Vault. There is a big difference between bringing back a mission and an entire Expansion worth of content. It is not just the campaign, it is all the maps, lost sectors, strikes raids, dungeons and missions for the entire year, EVERYTHING. That is a very big difference is size. While there may be the technical capability to reduce the size of everything that would mean a whole new engine and conversion of everything from old to new. That is not a small task and would involve thousands of development and testing hours. Frankly that is not something Bungie is going to do.

      •
I know you can do it and you know you can do it, SO DO IT!
It's not a matter if they know they can do it, it's the fact that they didn't want to do it. All the content you can't access is taking up space on your console. So when some people say the game installation is too big, it's because they never removed any of it off your console. All the content is downloaded into your console before you purchase it. It's why when you purchase new content there is no download, and it's why it's so easy for them to recycle content.

      • D2 is currently taking up 126Gb on my console. I bring that up because part of the reason Bungie gave for sunsetting older content and campaigns was to reduce the installation size as well as reduce the clutter on the destination directory/map. The problem is that a lot of sunset content is still in the game - you can still freely explore some of the forges from Season of the Forge/Black Armory for instance, despite them no longer being of any use and no enemies spawning near them. These are areas added to the game for Season of the Forge. That brings up the question of efficiency, or more so exposes Bungie's lack of efficiency with the game - tell players that content has been removed to reduce size while the game assets are, for the vast majority, still actually in game just with access removed.

        • Gotta love these nonsensical deluded posts where the OP has concluded something never said. Bungie never said that vaulted content can't or won't come back. They said it can and will if it's required to further the storyline. Season of the deep is an example.
