The title pretty much.
If your rift energy is depleted by proccing its effect (which creates a rift anyway) I feel like things like Hellion (possibly Reaper) and the like should also proc. This would be similar to how Loreley Splendor generates Sunspots off any barricade generation, be that either from harm activation or active placement by the player.
Seeing as Devour (when it was grenade consumption-based) used to proc Demolitionist (since grenade energy was consumed), Getaway Artist procs Bleak Watcher and Demolitionist.
A similar case could be presented for Ascension with Worm Husk Crown / Radiant Dance Machines (but I think less so) but I feel like an added bit of functionality to this (Promethium Spur), would put some shine on what I can imagine is an underused exotic across the board.

I think they need to drop the rift on yourself instead of where the enemy is as well. That makes it completely unusable in content where enemies are any threat to you at all.

For me it’s simple: if it uses the ability energy, it should grant the full benefits of using that ability: none of this picking and choosing they constantly do. If it grants near infinite use (like RDM) then it should be tuned appropriately (first dodge grants full benefits, subsequent grant select benefits). Promethium Spur is weird as it does grant near infinite uses but requires constant kills and moving to do so. I think Promethium Spur is bad enough that they can grant each rift full benefit, especially since it’s not like you’re gonna stack like 5 Hellions around you: you can only have one lol. Really I think Promethium Spur needs a ground up rework but that’s for a different discussion.

Now that's an idea! Have it create an improved version of Hellion, in place of your Rift, when activating your class ability. Hellion fires faster, or has an increased impact radius. Kills with Hellion replenish your Class ability energy, and grant Cure to you and nearby allies.
