This is a rant; I might trail off for too long.
How is it that Touch of Malice is so outclassed by other guns like Outbreak Perfected for emergency dps scenarios? Not only does Malice come from a more prestigious activity, its risk / reward is WAY worse and WAY more restrictive than other options.
Good luck making Malice dps work without a well, healing rift, sunspot, banner of war, or any other form of super strong, constant healing. If the boss requires repositioning from you, you can say goodbye to all of that healing except for banner (granted, you can’t even reliably have max banner going into dps phases like you can with the other options).
Like Outbreak, Malice also requires multiple people using it to maximize its damage, as loading the blight yourself takes away from shooting and is thus a dps loss compared to if a teammate blights the boss for you.
Even when the stars align for Malice, Outbreak often outputs similar or even superior damage anyways. I can understand a gun like Final Warning outperforming Malice due to the severe range limitation of a sidearm, but that may be the only exception that makes sense to me.
This could be solved in many different ways. The catalyst could change to something like Precision Instrument; Rapid Hit is *good*, but half of the benefit (i.e., the reload speed) isn’t really utilized, as Malice already has a fast reload speed & animation, not to mention the fact that Malice doesn’t often need to reload anyway. Perhaps it could get a custom catalyst that combines the effects of Rapid Hit and Precision Instrument…? If this would put it out of band in PvP, then maybe the catalyst could boost blight impact damage and/or debuff percentage instead…?
Please buff Malice.
