Why did it have to come back? It purely RNG based and it does nothing but bar us away from playing the activities we want to do.
I don’t want to grind the game,I want to play it,I get it if you want us to grind for better weapon rolls but having to grind out power levels purely based on luck to simply have fun doing a lost sector or any gameplay activity is genuinely moronic.
Last season I forgot all about having to level up and it was so much better,no tedious grinding particular activities to enjoy the rest of the game.
Please get rid of power levels, they make me want to play even less.
Also if you “like” the power grind don’t comment below,we know your reason is:”I like it because it gives me something to do”
Well you can try to do any activity or clean your room.
Edit:If you guys love grinding power levels so much maybe bungie should make them optional, that way we can see if you choose to actually grind that.
BEFORE YOU COMMENT: please take a moment to think about what you say, genuinely.

I didn't mind power level grind this much in the past, didn't gave me too much troubles doing pinnacles but it can surely get boring after a while, specially if they bumped light levels by 50 points like when Bungie did during Forsaken seasons, that was annoying alot. My problem is the fact they forced and capped light levels on all activities. Why do I want to grind this much if the best I can get is being capped regardless -5 through the game? Then Lightfall came out and, as the name itself says, made Ligh levels Fall off of meaning, the very few it used to have at least. -
words from my friend:”I already almost never have a chance to get on so the power level grind is just another insurmountable obstacle that discourages me from playing.”

Edited by Ghostfire239: 10/23/2024 12:59:21 AMYeah I genuinely find the power grind to always be one of the least enjoyable part of the game. “Least enjoyable” might be the wrong way to put it as it implies there some joy to be had. It serves very little purpose and in my case makes me even less interested in playing the game. Especially since we’re almost always power capped in most activities so you don’t even feel stronger. It’s just pointless grind.
-
I don’t mind it if I can “become powerful” but working to grind power to always be under leveled is BS.
-
The problem with it is that pinnacles are only +2, there’s no protection as to getting the drops you need, and they somehow still haven’t fixed the bugs that aren’t dropping pinnacles where they should. So, playing on one character, you’re only leveling up around 1 1/2 per week if you’re lucky.
-
What power grind?? literally everybody hit the pinnacle cap within the first week of final shape...
-
I’m liking the change I don’t know what they did but I can actually play trials without being at such a disadvantage. I’m 2000 in trials and all I’ve been playing is pvp and trials. You kids are just power hungry get over it
-
Especially when it doesn't work like the pathfinder
-
So, you want to play a game without playing it?
-
There is not much else to do this episode, so you might as well enjoy it.
-
Edited by Joulevette12: 10/19/2024 4:11:44 PMTheirs no progression that really matters unless you leveling up the season pass that is it If they wanted to make things more challenging just let us over level and let the modifiers increase the challenges and difficulty
-
There simply isn't enough challenges for pinnacle rewards honestly. There is a grand total of 5 pinnacle drops you can get without requiring a pre-made fireteam.
-
Hard to grind power when pinnacles are bugged 😂
-
For me, this is the first season I havent bothered at all to focus power leveling. It feels entirely pointless with the power caps on every activity. The only thing that really demands a high level are grandmasters, and being a few levels under for those they’re still easier than they were 2 years ago.
-
Edited by Dooodley: 10/20/2024 1:16:03 PMI don't mind the power grind but it really annoys me to end up with a lower power level than I had the prevous season. They should always account for artifact progress and make sure the new base-level is higher than what someone could have theoretically reached the previous season. It's just dumb to sit at 2026 and be taken down to 2000. I'll probably not even reach 2026 again this season because the only reason I got that high the previous season is because I just got back to the game and there was a lot to play - which there isnt anymore. Also, I really want the power levels to actually matter. Enough of this -5 BS.
-
Also bear in mind that half the ways of getting pinnacles don't drop like pathfinders or exotic missions as they are currently bugged. So just to add insult to injury it's going to take even longer to level up 🙄
-
its 10 levels grow up
-
Worst mistake in destiny was removing the level grind every season. It hast to be in the game for people who actually play the game and complain about not knowing -blam!-
-
As others said, the return of the 10 level grind every season (episodes isn’t sticking, nice try Bungo) would be fine if we went back to over leveling content. The hard core players have their contest mode, so there’s no reason for the rest of us to remain capped in content we’ve been playing for years.
-
Same reason the seasonal weapons aren’t craftable, It’s to boost player engagement. It’s easier to do it with something addictive rather than fun.

Edited by DarthWolfric: 10/20/2024 10:08:56 AM
I don’t want to grind the game,I want to play it,
“Grinding” has been the primary way of “playing” Destiny since 2014. Most live service multiplayer games involve grinding. Playing activities to progress is at the core of the game.
purely based on luck to simply have fun doing a lost sector or any gameplay activity is genuinely moronic.
Expert lost sectors require very little grinding. I’ve run a bunch this season before I’d really gone up many power levels and it was easy.
no tedious grinding particular activities to enjoy the rest of the game.
Most pinnacle activities are the fun parts of the game. Raids, dungeons, Nightfalls, Onslaught. This is where Destiny shines. Pathfinders are quick and easy. Barely a “grind”.
we know your reason is:”I like it because it gives me something to do”
I’d rephrase this to “encouraging me to diversify the activities I play, having fun while providing a clear end goal that coincides with the other rewards I receive while playing”.
-
I’m not saying the power grind needed to return. Bungie clearly did that for engagement numbers. But if you didn’t care about it last episode (the new drop where it matters more), it shouldn’t bother you now.
-
It came back because player numbers and playtime numbers were at an all time low. Nobody playing means no money for Bungo or Sony. They want you to spend as much time on the game as possible so it looks good to the higher ups. Literally no other reason as to why it returned.
-
I haven’t been able to play much this season so far (plus Diablo 4s expansion has felt more compelling). I’ve bothered completing 6 pinnacles so far - 1 energy and 5 arms. I’m someone who used to love levelling but I really cannot be arsed anymore with a throughly broken and outdated system that only a tiny minority of players want.
-
You need to grind power just so you can be not quite under level enough that the activity is impossible. But then you grind all that power to always be weaker than the enemies. Brilliant.
