Why do so many weapon names use music related terms? Take Etude-12, for obvious reasons among others.

  • As others have said, it is a Suros thing. Hakke has their own thing as well. All the "-Letter" weapons are named for historical and mythological figures; most of the rest appear to be famous, historical phrases (by the Last City's time). Daito weapons are named for cities. Crux/Lomar weapons have names based on royal or noble titles, or titles associated with such positions. Many Omolon weapons use the names of abyssal or cthonic deities and creatures for the weapons with type and number designations. E.g. Typhon (a Greek monster) GL5 (Grenade Launcher #5) Many VEIST weapons are named after venomous creatures. Each Foundry has a naming theme behind the weapons they manufacture. Tex Machina is more in the style of weapons than the names, the style being the Wild West.

  • A lot of those are Suros weapons. It’s part of their lore, Suros often equates their weapons to works of art. They want weapons to be beautiful and elegant, creating music as they fire. That’s why the vast majority of Suros weapons have music related names.

    • I always thought it was random words and numbers just thrown together.

Sound, reverberation...music of the spheres, what is the vibration of the universe, what is the note for birth, life, and death. It's a theme with the game. Director. Conductor. Notes on death. Waveforms
