Hey there, moderated names can't be re-used, close variants may also be rejected. Bungie attempted to unlock the unnecessarily changed names, but this has not worked for everyone. There has not been any further update on this. Everyone was given a new name change. You could try something different for now, just so you're not 'Guardian', and then if the older names get fully unlocked, you could change back. What was the old name, also? Unfortunately some people are in a limbo of sorts, they're still waiting to re-use their old name but may never actually get to do so - for example one player I spoke to here had the letters 'org' followed by 'y' in their original name, while they got hit during the wave, I suspect those four letters in that combination will mean they'll never be able to re-use it, even though those letters were, in this case, being used innocently within a longer word. So if there's something that stands out in your old name, you might be in the same situation.
