Today I managed to reset Zavala for the fourth time. As many of you know, resetting these ritual vendors allows their respective ritual weapons to drop with multiple perks in the 3rd and 4th column.
After 81 engrams focused into Wicked Sister, not a SINGLE ONE dropped with Envious Arsenal Bait n Switch. And that is with multiple perks.
Now I know you lovers of rng drops will say thats just bad rng but that’s exactly the point. Why would anyone want to waste so much time chasing something you statistically speaking may never get?
And these 81 engrams I focused were used with multiple perk bonuses enabled. Even if I did get a single one to drop, there’s nothing stopping me from getting a crappy barrel/mag/MW essentially ruining the entire drop.
Now I understand the example I’m using is that of a ritual weapon, which either way these are not even supposed to be craftable but the point I’m trying to make is towards seasonal weapons. Weapons that once the expansion year is over, they’re essentially just gone.
A lot of people tend to overlook one advantage that weapon patterns have and that is all seasonal weapons are available to us for ever. Even tho Season of the Haunted is long gone, I can still go back and craft an Austringer. You can’t do that with this Revenant weapons.
So again, who genuinely enjoys sinking hours and hours chasing a single weapon whose desired perk roll statistically speaking you may never get?
Oh and I’m writing this a bit after the IB shenanigans with Tinasha’s. That legit left me traumatized. Over 65 focused and only 4 Chill Clip and all 4 with reverberation… so yes make fun of me for my bad rng at this point I don’t even care. I’m just trying to make a point.

It doesn't help that the Ritual Vendor weapons have a dozen perks in each of the last two columns, which Bungie does purposefully to force more playtime. Neither crafting nor RNG are sufficient in my opinion, we need a middle ground between the two. Why are we not able to take two of the same weapon and steal perks from both to make one weapon with the perks you want? Even just "collecting" perks from that weapon pool from RNG rolls by destroying the weapon which has it to attach it to your existing one, as a selectable column (up to 3 as is possible currently).

I'll take crappy RNG over predestined fixed rolls any day. I remember the D2 launch with guns that were all the same. Granted, I haven't touched D2 in months, so I'm not invested in any of this, lol.

It would be fine if every single weapon in the game could be crafted - but only if crafted weapons can no longer get enhanced perks (and the new mods). Leave the option to enhance to RNG drops. That way both are valuable. Crafted weapons get you the exact rolls you want. If you want to gamble there is a potential reward for your time.

What I want is one of the following: 1) If crafting remains in the game, it needs a total overhaul because what players have now is a terrible system. 2) If crafting is removed in the game, players need far more options to control the agency of their respective drops.

Its not the rng its the weight gate. Is it really a coincidence that every have hard time getting the most desirable rolls over and over again? -
When it comes to rng, it is just that. Someone can get the roll they want on the first drop / engram open. Others might have it drop a hundred times and it doesn't come with the perks you want. Rng is the reason to why you replay that activity. Sure you could like the activity, but the rewards is a part of the fun. What they could do to help alleviate the grind fatigue, is to remove the world drop from the loot pool. It shouldn't even be there. and increase the drop rate of activity specific drops. No one is overlooking the crafting mechanics. So many wants weapons to be craftable, because of the very issue you are having right now. Just because not every single weapon is craftable, that doesn't mean that people don't see the advantages of it. Not every weapon needs to. For the ritual weapons, they stay for what seems like forever and can be focused. People seems to only have an issue with rng when there is a weapon with a specific roll on them that they want. Otherwise it seems to be perfectly fine. As soon as someone wants something, they just want it right away. Any weapon that drops with other perks, is just proof that rng is bad and needs to be changed. What fun would it be if you got what you wanted right away ? it would remove any incentive to, well do anything. Nothing to be gained, nothing to chase. Very little reason to play.

Yes. Farming red boarders is just rng without the dopamine of checking rolls. It sucks.
-
Yes I want random dropped. Focusing a weapon at Zavala isn’t my idea of fun either. And massive perk pools aren’t good. For me: Reduced perk pools Increased weapon drops and weapon focusing on all activities Some sort of perk altering mechanic on a single slot like some other games do

Rng is part of this game, it's what makes destiny, destiny.
-
Would you be okay if most or all crafting didn't have enhanced perks going forward?
-
I hate random. I prefer crafted and I'm considering quitting or scaling back how many cares I give. As a completionist though, the non crafting system really sucks

I just think they’re neat
