Edited by A_mo: 12/26/2024 12:23:00 PMThis game is over and it's one of the best endings to a game I've ever seen. Watching people in complete denial pointing the finger all the way to the grave has been particularly satisfying and I wish more of the people that got their money took by these clown players were here to see it. So many people on here don't look anything but guilty and they've been so sheltered this whole time that they don't even know that's what they look like. It's great hopefully marathon is great because no one is going to want anything to do with any of you.

Bad idea they have already put millions into marathon they have to get it out plus Sony won't let them cancel or delay marathon. Destiny isn't making enough money bungie needs to get a second game making money or Sony can and will shut the studio and end destiny.
-
Ngl I wanna play marathon.
-
Why do they think that people want to play Marathon ? a pvp game made by people who can't even handle the pvp side of their current game.
-
Thats not how this works. Even if Bungie execs wanted to do that, which they don't, they have a responsibility to meet the expectations of shareholders. Marathon has been pitched to them for a while. It needs to come out, it needs to make money. They don't get to stop working on it just because it would make destiny better, which I doubt it even would anyways.
-
Nah, let them. I want to see a Concordian style of flop.

Hopefully they do so 🙏😭 I love this game -
Why do people still think that the staff working on Marathon would just start working on Destiny if they weren't working on Marathon? Nevermind the amount of money that would instantly light on fire lol.

I’ve been a gamer since the 80’s and I can’t ever remember wanting a game to fail. Right now there’s three or four I hope crash and burn, Marathon is one of them.

Destiny, a game that despite everything still has a loyal fanbase after all this time. And with the right decisions could bring many back. Or Marathon, a hero based, pvp extraction shooter that doesn’t appeal to much of the current playerbase so will need to carve out its own niche. For me Bungie should have been trying to keep D2 in as strong a position as possible while getting their vanity project out the side door.
-
I don't know that Destiny can be "made the right way" without serious downtime and likely neither Bungie nor many of the players would be willing to do that.
-
Marathon is the last roll of the dice for Bungie. If it's a failure at launch, they're finished.
-
A successful Marathon launch will benefit the studio financially, and maybe lead to a D3. That or the studio can begin to invest again, and not simply struggle to maintain. That said, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Now certainly, this is hearsay evidence from Schreier back in August, but it doesn't paint a good picture for how Marathon is coming along. With the layoffs and the deaths of many incubation projects this year, I think it is clear that Sony wants Marathon sooner rather than later. I would guess any further delays to Marathon would result in a dissolution of Bungie Leadership (If that hasn't happened already).
