So remove crafting , make the grind more boring , players vanish and you cant see why ?

Probably a complete waste of time but here goes We all know the player base has plummeted and we can also all see the reasons why except Bungle Make the game More difficult across the board but dont make the rewards worth while Introduce the new activity but give less rewards than the coil (but remove the coil even though it was popular) Bring back the grind but remove Crafting , but make the grind boring and a waste of time. Grinding should have a goal thats obtainable eventually, but with RNG you could grind 24/7 and still never get what you want so devalue player time. Let cheats run Rampant but also make sure that Matchmaking is so bad , Put all against each other with wildly different Connections , i just love how good the game feels when im playing against someone from the other side of the world. Basically Bungle have lost it completely, I know they think Marathon will do well but they really should make sure that the game that actually makes the money is good enough to continue to do so , all i see is they are just doing the bare minimum to get by until Marathon.

  • Neomuna was the first test zone for making normal content harder with no reward adjustments. Neomuna is hated by the majority. Bungie saw this and doubled down. They’ve tweaked the content to more annoying instead of challenging fun. It’s showing in the daily numbers.

      • I am an absolute crafting enjoyer myself and hate that change but lets be real, them shifting away from that awesome system is not the main issue and why people quit. Its not even in the top ten tbh. Greedy CEO's killed the game.

      • That's not exactly why players left. Bungie has been telling us how to play and what they want us to play with. On top off all the bugs and glitches they don't fix. But at any point there is anything that benefits the playerbase they fix it immediately. It get ridiculous playing at no health all the time due to the amount of adds and lack of coverage in this game now. There lack of actual strikes they removed has pushed players away aswell. Battle grounds suck and should have left with the season they where introduced with. Pvp matchmaking hasn't been good the last 2yrs with whatever they did to the lobby balance.

I chalk it up to 3 things. Horrible loot rng mixed with them trying to increase difficulty makes the main gameplay loop a slog instead of fun. Bugs everywhere mixed with layoffs makes players question future content quality. All the monetization they could possibly have yet it’s clearly not being put back into destiny mixed with corporate greed. Players are sick of being milked and put last.

        • I stopped playing when I realized they wanted me to run around the world collecting ingredients to mix potions. Wtf even is this anymore? How this ever made it past the first round of jokes in a meeting without anyone saying at the end "...but seriously, does anyone have any good ideas for seasonal content?" is beyond me. Perhaps this is the toxic positivity I keep hearing about where no matter how awful the idea or decisions, nobody has the balls to speak out against it without getting called down to HR for hurting someone's feelings. Either way, this game has lost its identity. That's what happens when you fire every single original Bungie developer and replace them with DEI hires

        • The game became a convoluted mess. Was fun just chasing good weapon roles and fun exotic pieces. It got so needlessly complex with all the seasonal artificats, mods, exotic armours that needed a mix of everything to be efficient, using specific weapons for champions, etc. Sometimes simple is better, atleast in destiny 1 when you got that rare exotic weapon or armour you were excited to use it. Now you also need exotic armour pieces with good stat roles or it diminishes how useful it actually it is.

          • Been saying this for years… crafting is so bad because bungie micro manages everything you can do at the shape forge. Example: multiple hand cannons in the forge all have different selections of available perks. Instead of every perk being available for every hand cannon. 9 times out of 10 the options they give you have no synergies or god roll combos so its a complete waste of f**king time to shape them in the first place. Literally a pointless waste of time because you can get better RNG rolls. Crafting should just be removed entirely if this is how they are going to continue to handle it. Then theres the problem of layered RNG. It’s too punishing. And Bungie has purposefully bloated the perk pool with the most useless stupid perks imaginable. For no other reason than to give 90% of your drops trash rolls. So getting a good roll in this game is akin to rolling a 6 on a dice 10 times in a row. Because thats how many RNG hoops you have to clear to get one. And like you said it’s entirely possible you will never get one because of this. How I think Bungie needs to handle the game going forward: Every single weapon in game now has a shapable pattern you can farm. The RNG/grind portion of the game is now to farm patterns and materials for crafting. Different patterns are available in different activities. Patterns have a much higher drop rate than their weapons counterparts because you need 5 of them. Excess pattern drops for weapons you already unlocked are auto converted into materials. There are no more random weapon drops with random perks in the loot pool. They are all just pattern drops. Stupid useless meme perks are all removed. Once you collect 5 patterns you can craft the weapon with ANY perk combo you desire. No more “big brother Bungie says you cant have these 2 perks together because it’s too stronk and we suck -blam!- at balancing”. And finally you will be able to re-roll masterworks at the shape forge and upgrade non masterworks into masterworks.

They thought "fun" would be doing the same things, repeatedly. Like "doing the Pale Heart Missions over, and over....and over". Did i forget to say OVER? 😆 (And had the nerve to add these to Guardian Ranks) Resetting Pathfinder rewards for "150 bright dust", but skins cost 6000. Let's put Battlegrounds in playlist to make the grind longer! Let's change the "Lake of Shadows" and "The Arms Dealer"! They're gonna LOVE IT! Yep... people showed ya just how much they loved it.... They LEFT.

How anyone thought “drops exciting again because RNG” is beyond me. You know what is exciting? And fun? And practical? And more rewarding? Working towards something by making visible progress, getting it, and then using it endgame. Trying things out during down time because you unlocked the pattern and can easily try different perk combos of weapons in various builds in various activities. Easily being able to try out weapons on demand that you had no real intention of seriously using while not having to save a bunch of random rolls in your vault “just in case.” Having access to something that may prove useful later when artifact mods change and buffs happen without having to save a bunch of random rolls in your vault “just in case.”

I don’t even care about crafting tbh,I just want to stop getting so many repeat rolls and I want exotic weapons from raids and dungeons to drop. I don’t even play unless my friends ask me to play with them simply because 1.PVP sucks rn,and 2.Ive grown disheartened because of drop rates, like why even introduce weapons into the game if we can’t even get them anyway. Dungeon and raid exotics are a scam because they straight just won’t drop,I don’t want to waste away doing the same activities over and over for stuff I can’t even get,it super frustrating that everything i want to get is up to RNG(random number generator),it turns the game into a soulless grind that does nothing but disappoint.

                  • I think crafting for ritual, seasonal, and world drops was one of the things that contributed to this game taking a massive nose dive since TWQ. I’m cool with raids and other endgame/weekly limit/group-required activities having crafting. But I think having most of the weapons as craftable completely killed the incentive to play the game. I think removing crafting and making players grind the game’s activities isn’t the issue, but rather it exposes the main problems that have been plaguing the game for a few years now - the upper management and suits at Bungie didn’t reinvent Destiny’s profits back into the game and figured the player base would just endure very small amounts of shallow content and neglecting core aspects of the game. Meanwhile they invested the profits from Destiny into other IPs and car collections and hoped the Destiny community wouldn’t notice the game halting all progress and development. Every expansion and season since TWQ has been weak & shallow storytelling accompanied with un-engaging and predictable hamster-wheel activities that aren’t rewarding. They weren’t rewarding when we got uninteresting/mid weapon frames for crafting that we obtained in a few weeks and it’s not rewarding now chasing uninteresting/mid weapon rolls in activities that don’t drop or have stingy drop rates for the loot we are chasing. Neither provided loot that could beat the items I’ve already got in my vault and the most mind-numbing part is having to grind shallow activities like Onslaught to acquire them over new interesting content.

No.. crafting killed the game. Having all the seasonal weapons crafted by the end of the first week and then farming checkpoints for raid and dungeon weapons is what killed the game. Impatient noobs who want it all without working for it is what killed the game. Grinding was what kept us going for God Rolls and actually playing the game. I'm still grinding Gambit to replace my 4/5 Bottom Dollar. People were happy to grind Iron Banner for Bygones and Crimils.. They were fine with grinding Trials for the Rangefinder Summoner.. If you don't want to grind, go play something else. But also.. Bungie have to give us decent content and not just rebadged weapons and rehashed old dungeon and raid mechanics.

                  • Very sad but true I’ve been loyal to the core. This is the only game I’ve played since the beginning. It’s the only game I ever play and I catch crap for it all the time I dumped money into this game, especially lately trying to help out and get nothing in return. It’s the only game I wanna play is the game I’ve wished for my whole life. Why can’t the people that make it care about it as much as I do? sorry as we do. 😕

                  • There's more than one reason why the player count is low. Lack of new craftable weapons this Season is only one of them, not the primary reason.

                  • It's a sum, of many small events that created the player-loss - or, vanish - like OP said. For me, the loss of (seasonal) weapon crafting is part of it, but of course, there's more, like, for example, the current episode, which is simply crude and unfinished. But the downfall was initiated by Bungie himself years ago, starting with Destiny Content Vault, Sunsetting and iterations - by foolishly relying on Eververse as counterweight and compensation for the ongoing content. There's a lot more, but the main thing is that there is no counterstep. Which reminds me of bleeding out. There was a time, when Destiny 2 was brilliant, but even that momentum was burned to the ground, with blind overconfidence. For me, it was, in some ways still is, a top game, but it has a sad story to tell behind its curtains. The guy with the cars isn't impressive at all; it's more something to laugh about, but not a hearty one. In addition, comes another one who wants hundreds of millions from Bungie and Sony as compensation, charging an action suit against them. I think there will be more like this (in the future). And it shows what they have had in mind.

                  • Unless they remove the higher ups and replace them with people that actually enjoy fun, the game will never change. Devs are out here trying to make the game great, meanwhile studio is like, “No, don’t include this awesome mechanic, or gear, just give them a reskin of this gun from year one, they’ll love it!”.

Also. Adept weapons lost their value, they need to be more special than they currently are. Otherwise what’s the incentive to go for them other than some very minor stat bumps. Most of the adept mods aren’t special enough either anymore.

                          • I think crafting is a great thing in and of itself, but it has too many benefits versus random rolls. Personally, I don’t think crafted weapons should have enhanceable perks - this should be left to random rolls to have something to chase. In the meantime, you can craft that weapon to use the roll that you want/see if you like the weapon. Along with that, I think enhanced perks should do at least a little bit more than they do, so that the enhanced perks, and as a result random rolls, are truly valuable. This is my opinion.
