To make space for better content you vaulted..

guardian ranks take 0 content space lmfao, but yeah is just a tutorial thing that for some reason some players thinks shows how good a player is
-
Agree .
-
Or you could just ignore it. Problem solved.
-
You guys were pretty butt-hurt last time they sunset some stuff.
-
Eh they just make me laugh at those who think they are important. Especially the players that exploited the pantheon for God Slayer lol.
-
It’s dumb, but I’d say not the dumbest thing they added lol
-
l always stop at 7 now it sounds the best elite . but seriously it needs moved to a emblem level. they should keep raid nechanic junk in raids and leave it there. not in dungeons or strikes . bungie had a good thing going with warlords dungeon . they were on a great new path and then slid sideways and ended up in a ditch.

Gardian ranks don't necessarily mean anything as a form of expressing skill, but they are the only thing in the game that even attempts to guide new players through the game. The path they offer isn't even that bad of one, considering how poor the new light experience is, and if they take out ranks its not like they'll replace it with something better. The main issue I've seen people have with them is simply they don't like being told what to do, or we have such a high/different standard for what a good player is that even the higher ranks represent a mediocre player at best. The one i sympathise the most with being that you need the most current dlc to rank up past 7 or 8. Of course, there's also the small minority that actually does suck and are just butthurt they can't make number go up, but they're not worth considering past laughing at. There's million things wrong with gardian ranks, but If people participated in the ranks in good faith instead of "this thing is bs since it asks me to do something I don't like, or already did. now I'll never like them and wish they were gone forever." they might have been able to put them in a better place. People complain about having to redo ranks every season, but I've never had to go out of my way to re-rank up and always rank back up just by playing the game as i normally would. I had no problem with doing all the easy stuff I wouldn't normally do the first time around. I think gardian ranks are just not structured the way people choose to progress through the game, and that kills any desire to use them as the guide im guessing bungie intended them to be. At this point, almost everybody knows that they don't correlate to actual skill anyhow, so there isn't any point in getting rid of them when nothing better(or worse) will replace them for the people that do like them.

I consider Guardian Ranks another manipulative tactic to push purchase of Seasonal content, since you cannot progress beyond a certain rank without it. The player's rank shown on top of their heads for all to see exploits the natural desire of players to show off their rank/achievements in public and constantly reminds you how close you are to acquire the next rank, 'if only' you could complete this or that activity which of course is behind a pay wall.
-
OH! I Remember how proud some Bungie sycophants were to co-sign GRs and jump on that hamster wheel. There’s probably no going back, but glad to hear there’s people with common sense. They could have improved the EXISTING medal system and made new content instead.

I’ve said from jump street that ranks and commendations are a complete waste of everyone’s time and a huge waste of dev resources. Without negative feedback commendations, the commendations score doesn’t reflect the player’s overall persona or their commitments. Just how many activities they’ve done. Without ranks and achievements that most players can’t achieve, no metric of past challenges and achievements completed, and account recoveries being a thing - the guardian rank doesn’t reflect on a player’s skill level. Just their commitment to check boxes every season. With soloing a dungeon as the pinnacle achievement needed for max rank, max rank is meaningless and at best only reflects a mediocre player or a user that can afford account recoveries. Soloing a dungeon is like one step above getting conqueror. 😂

This is giving some 7 vibes 🤷🏼♂️
-
Not as much as season pass ranks…….. what the hell was that? Ooooh they’re 211.
-
I could've had been at 11, if it wasnt for this Bs garfen of salvation completion, one of the most hard raids ever a requirement, that should jave been a Rank 11 requirement.
-
Agreed honestly seems like a desperate marketing campaign for the new add ons. Few perks, just status symbol for how much money you can dump into a game
-
B...b...but it's busywork, and that's the same as player engagement... right??
-
Agreed
-
it shouldn't be reset every season, with advancement exclusively placed behind a pay wall
-
But how else can bungie get you to grind and show how much better you are than everyone else
-
Agreed. One of the most elitist, arrogant, ignorant things they added back in LightFail!!! I will never do those. I'll stay forever 6 or 7 just like D1 days. Forever 29. (If you know you know).
-
I remember the days when a rare handful of players having numbers like "1200, 1700" above their heads and I was like... "Bro...you flexin' your paychecks in everyone's faces right now... It's embarrassing. Rent due tomorrow for you." In my opinion, those were the ACTUAL times where rank was useless. Honestly, someone correct me.
-
The game is a bloated mess, strip out the superfluous crap and focus on what made Destiny tick. Guardian ranks 💀 Commendation 💀 Seasonal pish 💀 On reflection, why bother? It's probably too late to save the franchise.
-
Rank 11 is the only one that shows some degree of skill requiring the solo dungeon completion. But anyone can do that with enough practice and gear
-
guardian ranks call out noobs , so vets can torment them relentlessly with player collision in "coop" missions. sad but true according to James hetfield.
-
No Guardian Ranks means no 'John LFG' content. I'd be pretty sad... On a more serious note. After a certain level they are like doing chores (like a lot of stuff in D2) and bring nothing of value to the table and I'd be all for getting rid of them.

Same with the commendation system. They actually put dev time into these fake humble trash systems. Tells you everything about the employees and how their brains work. Priorities??? This game is doomed. Woke political activists and greedy higher ups drove this game right off the cliff.
