Keeps it from becoming OP in pvp and lets it fully benefit upon shooting orbs since as it stands, it only benefits from half of Shoot to Loot itself since it doesn't exactly have any "reserves" to pull from. People saying it doesn't need a catalyst aren't wrong to the extent it's one of the best weapons in the game, but when has that or the weapons previous reputation stopped Bungie? I mean, look at Lord of Wolves, that got a catalyst like 1 season after it was bugged so badly you could kill people 5x further than a Roadborn Chaperone with Lunafaction, but we had to wait like 14 seasons for Malfeasance of all weapons to get a catalyst. That LoW bug lasted over a month, they've disabled less broken or less viable weapons for weeks at a time. How about Heir Apparent? That bug lasted a season and a half where the ONLY way to kill the user was with an arc weapon, and that's assuming you lived long enough to get those shots in. The shield was so strong it could survive a Celestial GG. NOTHING in pvp should be able to survive a direct hit from that. How about Ace and that we only needed to wait 4 seasons for what is probably still in the top 5 best kinetic hand cannons in the game if not just for pvp? That same season, the "firing animation bug" on 140/150s was fixed, so it's usage skyrocketed thanks to console/ controller players no longer having the recoil of a desert eagle while trying to flip the gun after every shot. I could go on.
