That is all. Please don’t kill the game or let it be killed. Destiny is too unique and such a good break from reality. Bring back the magic this game once had.

In the end, the only destiny killer was Bungie all along

I think it's run its course now. Season model, lack of real content. Changes to difficulty. The new raid and dungeon. Nothing is fun anymore. Everything is a chore. Take the dawning for example, the essance drop rate was so stupidly low and the gifts in return were like 1 in 8 so trying to actually focus guns was an absolute slog, unless you had the Neptune legend mission CP and run that until your eyes bled. Removal of crafting and heavy perk weighting on all guns. Not to mention the countless bugs at the moment. No audio, black screen, white screen, game crashes, server problems that have been going on since the game began in 2014. An anti cheat that literally doesn't work. A report system that no one looks at. Bungie has 2 options imo, let the game die or sell to a different studio. I'd be rooting for the first option. I've been consistently disappointed with everything bungie has released since forsaken. That's when the game went to sh!t.

I still think they have an opportunity to pull it back without making a D3. If we travel out of the system to new locations, planets or even space stations ( with enemies ), it might kill the burnout the player base is feeling. They don't need to be terribly big maps, think mercury from the Osiris dlc. None of these planets have the vegetation like Venus had. Vex and pyramid terrain is flat and boring. I feel that's why the Witch Queen felt so good. It had a nice mix of terrain. The burnout from grinding is there, but despite Bungies fantastic sky boxes, constant eye level repetitive visuals burns you out also. New locations outside our system. New maps for PvP and PvE strikes. Maybe a different kind of grind? Eris Morn made us acquire gear in order to enter the pyramid, which was obtained from some light work and a boss. Never revisited that? It is currently so plain and boring, for anyone with significant time in. By the time a newer player understands everything involved with a "build" and how things work, what they need to obtain, they check out. I've been here since D1 day 1, and I take breaks from the game regularly as of D2 for about a month here and there. I know what's being pedaled my way. I also started feeling like I had a "side job " I had to put time into and couldn't just jump on to do something fun with friends. I don't even care about the FOMO at this point. They need to keep some of their core "good" moments, and send us somewhere new. So veterans and new players will experience them together without making a D3 and dumping all our gear for a "reset". My two cents

Edited by RabbitTears: 12/29/2024 2:58:04 PMGames dead for mostly all of the casual audience The hardcore ones are the ones that are left. After defeating the witness I found no reason to continue playing destiny 2. They should have let it go instead of milking it with seasons after defeating the witness. If they make d3 I’d come back as for d2… Im finished with it. It had a good run.
-
Ngl we are likely well past that. They'd have to fix so much, and retool a lot. Imo it should have dude gracefully with final shape. Would have been a good ending.

This game never had any magic - it had a few parlour tricks that 'looked' like magic but after a while it became far to easy to see through the façade. The game has (at time of writing) 12,314 players online in Steam, and those numbers are still falling. By comparison, Warframe has more than 4 times that, so it isn't just a 'live-service games slump', like some are painting it. Bungie just aren't interested in keeping this game going, and haven't been for years - they got bored with it and want to move on, just like they did with Halo (and did so after roughly the same time period). The majority of the playerbase have moved on and Bungie are clearly preparing to, so perhaps it's time for you to do the same. You're better off ripping off the Band-Aid now rather than waiting for the bleed-out next year.

It feel like the current Bungie management doesn’t care about this franchise any longer, only to keep it alive enough for it to remain populated. The bare minimum effort. I’m really hoping Sony takes this IP and the talented devs at Bungie and give them to a studio that actually wants to produce Destiny with passion and not just to keep it up for revenue for other IPs.

Edited by Morakx: 12/29/2024 7:56:43 AMI mean tbh the ship already sank. Considering how expensive live service games are to run, the playerbase dipped to almost non profitable values already. If Sony wouldnt know about the insane monetization potential because of past numbers, the plug would have already been pulled imo. Also IF Bungie had another consistent running ip, the plug would have also been pulled. The game is literally dead atm and the january low is yet to come. Curse of osiris made them almost shut down the game. We are lower than back then. Should tell you everything. And unless Bungies and Sonys higher ups decide to all of a sudden not be greedy af anymore, i dont see that changing sadly. My personal favorite game of all time died for the benefit of some greedy suits.
-
No one wants the game to die, but Bungie’s giving more reasons for it to though.
-
I’ll come back when Sony dismantles bungie and reboots Destiny 2 or makes a Destiny 3. Game is in a horrible state now.
-
It’s not going to die. But it’s also never going to be at the scale we known again
-
Agree… if destiny dies a part of me will die

Edited by THEREALLONEWOLFx: 12/31/2024 8:53:00 AMD3 needs to happen. They don't care about D2. They just use this to fund Marathon that's the game they care about now. They are gonna fall hard when it releases and it gets the Concord treatment! Lol! Serves them right too. Bungie should of focused on a true MMO sequel in D3 not Marathon and 5 other projects at once!!!! They did it to themselves!
-
Then let Pete go. Let Sony take it to make game better. But it stalled hard.
-
More Red War, less culture war. And please bring back Mars (the battleground doesn’t count).
-
I am so ready to move on from Destiny… to Marathon 😎
-
It never had any "magic" ... Cope
-
Its not ending anytime soon. We have 5-6 months before the next DLC drops and then another year after that. With that said all things eventually come to an end. The same people who post the games dying, dead or ending have been making those posts for years. It’s laughable at this point.
-
I'm not optimistic about Destiny's future. Though I hope I'm wrong.
-
Fully agree. The game has its issues atm, especially PvP, for PvE it’s nowhere near as bad as people make it sound here. I still believe they can turn it around.
-
Agreed. Pls.
-
It was nice journey for sure but other games are fun too, no need to stay on sinking ship
-
It’s been a fun 10 years. Time for something new.
-
🫢 sorry but, well ….
im sorry
At the end of the day, that’s largely decided by us, the players
