Bungie are currently looking into it, with that being said, with the launch of Season 18 they've been forcibly clearing tracked items at the launch of each new season/episode due to this issue in the past. This system however has had some issues with it, for some people it was not clearing the items correctly (this was an issue that occurred with the launch of TFS). If it works your issue should be resolved, if it doesn't then they're still looking into a proper fix anyways.
