1. Corruption and greed within the company
2. Unfair pvp balancing
3. Constant nerfs
4. Irritating and fruitless grinding
5. No free giveaways unless your apologizing for something stupid you did
6. Expensive store and seasonal and yearly content
7. Not listening to your player base
8. Making easy content feel much more difficult than necessary
9. Bugs, bugs, and more bugs
10. Ridiculous currency caps
If you guys think of anymore reasons, feel free to add your input. Bungie don't care no how. They aren't like other games that people are flocking too. Gee I wonder why? Oh, maybe cuz they actually listen to their players and give them what they want instead of constantly manipulating them with devious tactics like Fomo, gambling addiction, stockholm syndrome, and so forth.

Hey Bungie how's that catering the the streamer community working out for you.

How is the balancing in PvP unfair? 3. We get more buffs than nerfs by a significant amount. Regular balancing updates are a good thing. 4. There’s basically nothing to grind for. If it was actually endless, retention would be higher. Instead it’s the exact opposite. 5. We get free content in basically every major update. 6. For how much this game gives you, charging $100 a year is pretty damn cheap. You really won’t find a cheaper hobby out there. 7. Not listening to your personal opinions doesn’t mean they aren’t listening to others. Unfortunately they’ve made many decisions based on player feedback and that’s one of the reasons why the game is where it is. The quality of the feedback is important. 8. The game has been getting easier and easier with every update. Where is hard content for those that enjoy it? 9. Bugs will always be present with a game that releases content at this pace. 10. There’s no hard to obtain currencies in the game anyway. The caps are only there to help the little guy by evening the economy out. The real issue with the game is lack of desirable pursuits and constant one off throw away content being made.

You forgot vaulting content we payed for
-
My reason is: there is no incentive to do any activity since there is already so many weapons and armor that it makes no sense to get another weapon I am never going to use anyways

That's why I'm out.

Edited by Iccotak: 1/2/2025 4:01:15 PMReason 11: a Story that’s a complete mess due to missing content from vaulted expansions and seasons which makes it basically impossible to experience a coherent narrative with a beginning, middle, and end. Which turns away new players and alienates returning players. ———————————————————————— It would be awesome if Bungie overhauled the Timeline Reflections to include Campaigns and major story beats from seasons - providing direction and context to battlegrounds, strikes, and dungeons as well as expansion storylines like; - Separation of Savathun’s Worm - Amanda’s Death - our deal with Riven - our history with Calus - Eramis character arc - the Traveler leaving our atmosphere - etc. We should be able to experience the Light and Dark saga story from D1 through D2.
-
I’d say the number one reason honestly, is the developers left d2 first .
-
I just got bored. That's about it for me.
1. Corruption and greed within the company
Doesn't exist, I'm afraid. It might be fashionable to think 'everything's a conspiracy', but this is just another example of good old fashioned incompetence. I don't think there's even a particular 'greed' element, just a very, very 'out-of-touch' way of looking at the gaming market.
2. Unfair pvp balancing
Not unfair, just really, REALLY badly designed. They have a PvP playerbase that breaks out in hives every time you mention skill based matchmaking and when the only metric you use is to match with is tied to connectivity, you're going to get matched with people where the only commonality is connection speed
3. Constant nerfs

4. Irritating and fruitless grinding
Once again, bad design in both cases. Games usually require the odd tweak here and there but the scale and frequency this is done in D2 is beyond astonishing.
5. No free giveaways unless your apologizing for something stupid you did
While this might initially sound like it comes from a place of entitlement, why the hell not? It should happen so rarely that it should cost the company next to nothing. DE do this with their livestreams all the time and also if there's even an off chance that a rework or tweak has inconvenienced somebody to some degree
6. Expensive store and seasonal and yearly content
Three different issues there - overall expense for in-game content, the fact that they even tie seasonal content to paid purchases and the fact that their yearly content doesn't yield much in the way of overall value
7. Not listening to your player base
They never have - not so much a reason people are leaving now, more a reason why people have always left and why this has been such an ongoing discussion.
8. Making easy content feel much more difficult than necessary
Once again, bad design. There's an old saying that you can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time. Only at Bungie would they think that pleasing none of the people none of the time was a solution to that. (the answer to this is simply selective difficulty scaling, which curiously enough they have planned for Frontiers although why it wasn't always in the game after putting an appearance in Destiny1, is utterly beyond me).
9. Bugs, bugs, and more bugs
And back to competency again. Kind of forgivable for new stuff but managing to introduce new bugs to years old content certainly isn't. And doing stuff like leaving placeholder icons in place on live seasonal content where it's only one of two changes since last year should be a disciplinary offence, to be honest.
10. Ridiculous currency caps
And back to bad design again. Introducing caps to currency for technical reasons is one thing but Bungie are quite literally wasting database space with their current caps, and doing so as a means to throttle the player experience. All of that being said, I think rather than listing out ten reasons why people are leaving Destiny, we should be all trying to think of reasons why were are staying, and if that isn't greater than the number of reasons to leave, welp....

( INFLUENCERS ) being vocally unhappy and leaving to play other games, for whatever reasons. And bringing there community with them. Bungies dependence on the streamers is real

Edited by nonchalantone: 1/2/2025 4:47:51 PMThese are some VERY good reasons. They have really, (and I mean really) gotten great at not caring. Unless it's money involved.

Pvp is bad and they narrative is terrible currently

I can’t say why, because I’ll get banned. So I guess you know.

Lack of communication for a future. Why invest time into this franchise if there is little to no meaningful content updates.
-
You forgot the complete lack of engaging content. Go look at the old D1 content drops with story missions strikes and crucible maps and then think about how the lack of all of this has led to everyone leaving
-
Induced difficulty by way of infuriating ways to die. Example Threshers, unlimited OP boomer nights, awkward obstacles that totally ruin your combat flow and Where is the story gonna go. I’ve resisted saying this but the game is boring and has no teeth. I’m not invested in the scorn story line as is. I don’t care about tonics cause I’ve never had to use them, I’m an undead space magic dude. TF
-
One thing often mentioned is it’s not easy for new players. Also the story is a mess with vaulting.
-
There is a trend that is particularly true in the world. When a company gets greedy, they also become lazy. Probably applies here too. I have only one reason why I stopped playing this empty game years ago… It’s Dead!!! D-E-A-D Dead!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely nothing here but a shamble mess of shallowness!
-
All of the above, plus other games exist.
-
They’ve changed this games core mechanics and currency so many times you lose interest and focus which leads to boredom. Exit this way. I can’t imagine wth is even going on in the story these days. They bring back that raspy blonde from the tower yet? 🍻- catcha riiiiide
-
The franchise used to be a polished triple A product under Activision, now its a cash grab gacha f2p game that milks loyal players to fill the higher ups pockets. With zero interest in players satisfaction.
-
It’s a lot more than that bungie as a company need a complete restructuring from management and really everyone needs to get restructure but management especially because they don’t listen or they do what they want instead of what the players want They should’ve been fired years ago, the game as a whole sucks because of the company that’s lacking in a lot of areas and new games that come out are simply better because the companies not all of them but a lot of companies have better management teams and people actually care about the game and the players and want to improve the game experience for everyone bungie just wants to take from the players while giving nothing in return they’re like a toxic ex girlfriend that just wants money from you but doesn’t care about you in the slightest it’s better to leave her and block her than to let your mental state continue to decline because of how bad she uses and abuses you

Edited by sideswipe: 1/3/2025 1:14:28 PMIronBanner - They ruined IronBanner. In D1, it was a prized event. Something many looked forward to every month. Taking the power limit away was a really stupid move! For those that put the time into the game you got something back. They could have made 2 weapons and 2 pieces of armor, collecting the armor as a set over time. Siva - This was a hit with many and they just tossed it aside. They already created the damn thing and knew many wanted it back. Why bother doing something we wanted. Just F stupid! Glohoo shader - Would it have killed them to release this during Festival of the Lost as a reward? Apparently so, another why bother doing something we wanted back. Added on padded Mechanics - Enough with the padded BS steps! Wrath of the Machine was the Perfect amount. Just enough not to kill away the ACTUAL FUN! God forbid 50% or more of your player base completes a F Raid!! It’s like you hate Fun to be had. You do everything to make this game not fun! The only thing they seem to care about is the worlds first raids and dungeon belts for the truly smug & arrogant elites, it reflects back to what they see in the mirror every day, especially you Pete. They continue to degrade this game from within. Thats the shameful part. It has so much more damn potential! They just squandered it all away.
