I have pulled infinitive amount of weapons and I spend more time than most players in D2 and I can tell you first hand that Perk Weighting is widespread.
Example: I can go to Drifter and pull 10 Bygones and most of them will have the same perks on them when I pull them back to back, a lot of which are almost identical roles and since the perk pool for Bygones is so saturated the chances of them being like this is like hitting the lottery.
I know you guys have said that you are looking for a fix for Perk Weighting but please make sure that you look into all weapons because this is happening at everything from Vendors to Tonics to Dungeons.

Whether it's fixed or not is irrelevant. Any string if bad rng you'll say it's perk weighting.

Yup6. I've posted about this a few times. It seems like it got worse with the weight fix put in a month or two ago. I'll ask the group again, are perks random or has bungie said they do some perk weighting? They should be random in my opinion but would like to know if bungie does do it. I've been farming the Vantage point since it came out. I have received a few eddy current/jolting feedbacks but none with the barrels, mag, master work I'm wanting. I want a stats for all/jolting feedback and haven't received one. My thumb is numb from deleting all the to the pain, focus furry, high impact rounds, desperado combos. They may be fine perks but why do 80% (best guess) drops have these perks? In all the time, not one stats for all/jolting feedback? It makes no sense. I believe it was the role in act 1 season progress but I must have deleted it by mistake as I don't have it anymore. It took 3 weeks of constant farming to get the nox smg I wanted, still waiting for the chroma rush, gridskipper, scavenger's fate. I'll dedicate 8 hr days farming for them individually and still don't have them but get a ton of to the pain drops. I gave up on bygones. I got a few roles with decent perks but not with the barrel, mags I want but I'll keep them just to avoid having to keep playing gambit.

Been saying this for years. The amount of vitriol I’ve had thrown my way because I call BS on RNG is insane. I’ll proudly wear my tin foil hat whilst saying “told you so”

Edited by Quagmire_: 1/3/2025 7:46:52 AMSeven tonics of Vantage Point, the arc pulse, used in their entirety to farm. One single roll of Eddy Current and Jolting Feedback. One from over ten hours of farming. Anyone who says perk weighting was fixed is full of it. This is just one example from one source but I'd be willing to bet many more have a similar experience.

They won’t fix it. It’s intentional.

I want to make a tin foil hat joke so bad... But last time, the crazies were right

It’s definitely not fixed. Whether focusing engrams at Shaxx or Drifter or at Failsafe or using tonics or buying exotic class items at Xur, I get the same rolls & perks over and over again. Most recently on Tuesday at Failsafe I was focusing on Patron of Lost Causes - turned in 70+ engrams and the same perks in both columns kept repeating. Also, no matter the source, if To The Pain is part of any weapon’s perk column, it’s the dominant perk on the weapon drop. Like literally, so sick of that one perk alone being on every weapon drop, like 80% of the time. The weighting issue is definitely not fixed.

Bungie has yet to acknowledge it, but the bug is still alive and kicks in if you focus and engram or have an attunement active. I've done plenty of testing since the "fix" launched. Made posts in which other players tested and found the same results. Basically if you claim an engram rather than focus, it has more true RNG, while if you focus it, then it has the classic rng where only 4 perk combos are likely to occur.

I love this whole perk weighting thing. Its all purely confirmation bias.
-
At this point people play not to have fun but to beat the shitty rng system in this game. like it or hate it division 2 crafting station is the best balance I've seen as far as a loot based game. bungie could've implemented something similar but chose not to in order to maximize player engagement. Problem with progression based games is they're hard to leave because you feel like all the time you invested is wasted.

Edited by TonnoSenpai: 1/3/2025 2:10:46 PMtrue and real, source my mind, is fixed now the god rolls are harder to find for obv reasons since now all combos have the same % drop rate

I mean it’s a looter shooter game you’re gonna be required to grind a lot for rolls you want ofc perk weighting is in the game it’s supposed to be how else are they supposed to get you to grind the game?so if you don’t want that then don’t play the game play something else

Working as intended

I really can't understand why people find this so difficult to grasp - drop weighting is nothing new, in fact it has been there since the very first days of Destiny 1 and has affected everything from the perks to the very gear that drops itself (remember how nobody could get a Gjally or a 1KV no matter how many runs, but how everyone got an Edge Transit for every second drop practically everywhere)? They've not understood the system enough to fix it in a decade; what on Earth makes you think they'll fix it overnight (or indeed, EVER)?

Imagine grinding for a specific reactor on the first descendant, me and a friend spent a few days throughout last week to get a double gold tech toxic power boost ratio. After 10,000 reactors (Not exaggerating that number btw) we never even saw a single one drop. That formula is similar to how Warframe had an algorithm that the more you played and grind for a specific drop the rarer it got. That reactor is literally a 0.002% drop at this point.

yeah, I got -blam!-. Definitely turned in 100 packages so many rolls were the same garbage tactical mag with reload master work or flared mag well with reload master work over and over again, blatant cheating by bungee When will somebody use their imagination and create a better game that is like this I mean come on people what are you developers doing 11 years and nobody can make a game that’s better ?
