Why I support crafting instead of RNG.

Because not 1 Arc Ergo Sum has dropped for me in this game. That's why I hate this game. Not because lack of content. Not because some rich guy bought a bunch of cars . Only because you are forced to play the same stupid thing over and over and over and over and over and over. Let us craft the weapon we want so I can go use it where I want and play this game the way I want. Update: I got my FIRST ARC ERGO SUM yesterday. 1 out of 15 or so. STOP MESSAGING ME. Get a life.

  • I've played CoE over 100 times. Still no loot on first chest after said fix. Been farming noxious since the beginning and still no to the pain target lock. The player base in PvE matchmaking only gives experienced players on late nights during weekends with asian gamertags. I've played for since taken king and I'm finally letting go of this frustration. It's an addiction worth kicking. Games are ment for fun, not an endless pursuit for a gun that's unobtainable for end game content. Tom Christie hit the nail on the head with his recent video and even Aztecross jumped ship. This company is embarrassing, if you work here hold a higher standard to yourself than insecurity for monetary life value. Your worth more than to work for a company like this that gives a false sense of security. I'm done 🫡

RNG is the main reason I stopped playing. They can replace it with a system that takes a long time for all I care. Don't care if it takes 50 guaranteed red boxes for a single weapon. At least I know that when I play for an hour, I KNOW I made progress. RNG doesn't do that because it's random. No amount of times I do it will lead me to getting what I want making my attempts a waste of time because I already experienced the content 100 times over.

    • I agreed totally. RNG has always been a joke. Let me earn it and build it the way I want. But once I unlock it, I should be able to switch perks freely.

            • So you're saying there are so many possibilities for a given weapon that the chances of getting what you actually want are close to NIL; unless you just get lucky. Basically, too many perk comobs exist for a given weapon. Meaning the drop chance for a given perk combo are too small. Why not address the core issue rather than put a bandaid on it? Why not simplify the perk list, reducing the total number of perks and making every perk combo something viable? Not every combo is best but at least every combo can be useful. I say address the problem.

              • Oh and what sucks about not grinding is that you can't even know what you want because they always buff one unused perk, so you're left there with a 600/700 vault, unsure of what to keep since it'll be even less efficient to get the said gun (or even unable to get said gun) later on -_-

                  • Not 1 wave frame ergo sum dropped for me, I just gave up on it, I am NOT grinding that destination that doesn't even have basic open world like the others, I mean seriously, only 3 people can be there, unlike the moon -_- All this effort put into making the experience super slow and groggy and a pain for the player

They should allow crafting on limited weapons. I don’t agree with the idea of only allowing them to be lesser weapons either. Each episode or season should allow 3 weapons to be crafted. One kinetic, energy and heavy. They should be excellent weapons and excellent perks. This would allow players the ability to create a new load out every 3 months. The rest of the weapons should be RNG, enhanced perks and focusing. There has to be crafting available but it has to be balanced with RNG loot.

                  • Bungie know that rng is a problem... otherwise they wouldn't have tried fixing it twice. Fixed rolls didn't really work, in that it lacked options. Crafting seemed like a good compromise... something to chase, something with variety (although, sometimes there is just 1 God roll) and a limit to how much grinding was required. I'm surprised they went full reversal, instead of just diaing it back. I wasn't around when crafting was first added... was there any particular bungie message that came with it??

                    • 100% this. To hell with skewed rng, forced replaying of certain activities to get rolls that never drop. To hell with this nonsense that crafting makes the game grind redundant/its a looter shooter! I grind to get the red bars for that season, thats loot that prevents shockingly poor rng.

                      • I didn't like crafting at first now I do, but all the perks need to be available for all weapons that have those perks.

It’s as simple as this. I played MORE with crafting. Not less. Act 3 sees a new stasis scout. Why would I chase that when I can’t craft it and I already got the roll I’d want on the new world drop stasis scout? I chase all weapons until I unlock the pattern. I chased only 3 seasonal weapons this season, one of which I settled on a less than desirable roll for after targeting only that weapon with tonics for over a month.

                        • we need both , like lot of players already said and bungie is thinking that way too , we need crafting but the best optition or version of that gun/armor in the game should not be craftable, i hope bungie will walk back on using crafting as a catch up , they jus tneed to make tier weapons a lot better. sadly they will probably just add more stats and remove enhanced perk from crafted weapons

                          • BOTH systems are good. They are both time-consuming systems that take our resources and time. Just crafting is more direct. There is a place for both in the game, just a lot of OGs and Veterans need to grind and have excuses to play the game.

                            • As a follow up statement it should be said that extreme RNG , useless weapon perk pool, weight gating and bounties are designed mechanics that are working as intended. It's not about players having fun, it's about player engagement and how long they can lock you into an activity wether it's an enjoyable thing or not. Some may enjoy this mindless style of Destiny 2. Datto, other streamers and trolls in these forums. However, I don't think that's the voice of the masses. Me personally I love the ritual weapon system. Yes I may have to do strikes , crucible or gambit over and over but at least its not the same strike every time AND I can see my progress towards the weapon.

Im to the point now where I can’t take anyone who’s against crafting seriously anymore I even stopped supporting some of my favorite content creators because all they do is complain about how crafting ruined the loot chase (imo it didn’t as it just made it more predictable). This season alone is proof enough that crafting was a great thing. Tonics are horrible, onslaught and tomb of elders are way too long (also dead) and rng has just gotten worse after the weight gate “fix”. Idk about you but I’m not gonna refresh an attunement that should be passive nor play a mode that takes way to long for loot to drop. Crafting is such a great addition because it’s like a second vault and rewarded players that played seasons and raids. Not to mention the way it was implemented made sense since seasonal content rotates out, raids can’t be farmed, and destinations fall out of favor after a certain period of time. Players can still do core playlists, dungeons, trials, and Gms for rng loot (i still do Gms for adepts).

If we call Destiny 2 a free to play game with paid content, then we can call it a looter shooter with a crafting system as well 🤷🏻‍♂️

                                  • Fighting against the poor -and sometimes broken- rng is not worth it for a lot of activities. Why I don’t do dungeons or try to raid. The time in has not equaled valued reward out. Compare that to an activity like Dares of Eternity -when crafting went live- I went all in to build a Battler to perfection. Now I have 20k kills with it. Totally worth it. Crafting is in many instances the equalizer to poor rng and make it worth my time to play some activities I’d skip.

                                    • Why not both? Random drops have been, and should always be part of Destiny. Not having them was a disaster for D2Y1. However pure RNG is frustrating and does not respect the player's time. Instead why not have crafting tied to the number of times you've dismantled an item? Take Better Devils. Each drop should be a random roll. Is it not the roll you wanted? Dismantle it. Dismantle 5 Better Devils and you unlock crafting tier 1. This has a couple perk and barrel options. Dismantle 5 more and you unlock tier 2 with more options. Dismantle 5 more and you unlock tier 3 with all the options. Dismantle a total of 25 and you unlock the ability to apply two perks per column. (This is really a feature to cut down on vault space.) This way each drop is either a chance to be a god roll or the next step in being able to craft one.
