Oryx coming back again is just exhausting at this point. We killed him in the world, on his throne world, and even prevented him from being resurrected in a dungeon. And yet he comes back? Took a page out of the Star Wars playbook I see.

They’re too busy working on the next lover/family drama to worry about original ideas.
-
It's actually gonna be Taniks in a Oryx costume

Edited by CrimzonReaper: 2/1/2025 3:19:55 PMPersonally I thought this episode was going to be a no brainer slam dunk story wise, all they had to do was have the hive sisters battle it out and finish off that story, instead we get some dread nobody knows and oh boy Oryx is back. Big whoop. I didn’t even bother logging in for act 3 of last episodes mess, I was excited for Heresy but the live stream killed that lol. I’m really losing my gaf fast for this game.

It interferes with recycling content
-
Because Bungie can't come up with compelling new characters See:The Witness So they just recycle the characters they already have

Edited by AmethystRhino: 1/30/2025 9:29:39 AMBecause d2 is the ultimate bait and switch scam. Remember the Destiny reveal in 20 13 ? Bungie claimed that we would embark on a 10 year journey and our weapons , supers abilities would grow more powerful along the way. This was what many of us signed up for. Fast track to 2015 and 1/2 we learn d2 is coming out and despite everything they told us d2 was actually a reboot of Original Destiny (admitted by then game director Luke Smith) and now we all know it was actually a second revenue stream so they could more funnel more funds for all the other games they were working on including marathon and gummy bears. Very little of Destiny resources with back into destiny which is why the game suffers so much and why eververse is such a major part of d2 and is the true focus for new content. Where’s all the new content they said we were going to love back in zRise of Iron in D1 when they were hyping up d2? Nothing new same weapons same locations same enemies oh but all the nerfs yeah that’s new.

Bros turning into taniks

Bet enemies say/think the same about guardians

Oryx? Should be called Xerox.

Stopped playing other games to copy/buy their enemies' routines. Streamers didn't ask for it. Other unknown reasons. All the above.

They dont have the talent to create new things.

"I'll be back." -- Destinator
-
It's because all of the talent is long gone and all that's left if bottom of barrel. No experience. No creativity. Easier for them to reuse old content and call themselves dev's. After layoffs it's prob the janitor creating the content now

I could understand if it was on the level of bad writing that is Star Wars. I personally think the writing of all this has been solid. The storytelling in Destiny is the least of its problems IMO.
-
I agree with this... but let's see what happens before we pass too much judgement. The echo could be the whole pre-hive instance, where oryx was still female. There could be some Harry Potter -blam!- where oryx put part of his being into various things, which we need to destroy/kill. I'm more disappointed with how they plan on wrapping this up into an episode... something that isn't a campaign driven update, but again, who knows!
-
Haven't Crota and Taniks been through the recycler enough to prove to Bungie this is a bad idea?
-
My opinion will depend entirely on the "In some form" part. If Oryx coming back is just a consequence of the Echo interacting with the Dreadnaught and is a temporary matter resolved by the end of the season, with Xivu and/or Savathun interacting with him as a means to further them, I won't have an issue. If Oryx is the only Hive antagonist to take part in this Episode with the Dread and Winnower being the other players, then this will feel like a massive waste. If Oryx is back past this Episode, it'll be one hell of a spit in the face to Xivu as an antagonist.

Because space magic.

People complaining all the damn time should pay a $20 subscription a week to play on top on dlc costs.
-
It seems like the echo might just be conjuring his essence or soul. No physical body. The story might be about the dread trying to revive him fully.
-
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Witness came back somehow.
-
that and just recycled content in general. very old. can't create a new villain?
-
With lucient Hive, I would've thought if Savathûn could put a leash on Oryx, MAYBE we could revive him. I also would've brought him back instead of -blam!- Calus in Lightfall. Seriously, calus was just bad... I guess he was good for writing. Did we ever kill the real Calus? I still hated him.
-
Can't wait to hear Aztecross do his best to be hyped about it.
-
...You're expecting new content from a company that has stated that creating content is hard. Good luck with that.
